Replacement of a redirect with a short article edit

I replaced a redirect to the page Flamingo/Phoenicopteridae with a short article describing the genus Phoenicopterus. This change was reverted with the comment "Included in target". I believe that having a separate page on the genus Phoenicopterus is worthwhile - and this is the convention on English wikipedia (and is adopted on all the bird genera articles known to me)- if a family contains more that a single genus then there are separate articles for the family and for each genus. See the page WP:WikiProject_Tree_of_Life#Article_titles: "A useful heuristic is to create articles in a "downwards" order, that is, family articles first, then genus, then species.)

The family Phoenicopteridae contains 3 genera Phoenicopterus, Phoeniconaias and Phoenicoparrus. There is already a short article for the genus Phoenicoparrus and for the monotypic genus Phoeniconaias the genus is included with the species article (this is the convention for monotypic genera see: WP:WikiProject_Tree_of_Life#Article_titles)

My Phoenicopterus article contained information not present in the family article such as the original description of the genus by Linnaeus, the etymology of the genus name and the type species for the genus. Clearly more could be add to the Phoenicopterus article such as the distiguishing features (flamingos in the genus "have a relatively primitive feeding apparatus" (HBW)) -Aa77zz (talk) 14:45, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
