Cleanup

I've added a cleanup tag, the content is fine, but there's a huge gap between the external links heading and the acutual hyperlinks themselves which needs sorting, I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Supervolcano

The New Scientist, 27 September 2008, p 35, names Campi Flegrei as one of the two main candidates with Yellowstone for the next supervolcano. Perhaps someone competent on the subject could cover this. Dudleymiles (talk) 19:48, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Translation from Italian

The Campi Flegrei article in Italian Wikipedia is very complete though it lacks clear (to me) sources. I've been looking for references to the info there and intend to translate it completely, as articles in English are the main source for articles in all other languages and therefore should present as much info as available. Besides, I've found the information in Campos Flegreos article in Wikipedia in Spanish is also very useful, especially because it's summarised in plain language, though merely a translation of the Italian version. Name

Why is this article entitled with the Italian name instead of the English "Phlegraean Fields"? There are plenty of English language sources for the use of "Phlegraean Fields". For starters, see the various articles in the June 1984 Bulletin of Volcanology, such as Bianchi, R. et al. (1984) "Modelling of surface ground deformations in the Phlegraean Fields volcanic area, Italy" Bulletin of Volcanology 47(2): pp. 321-330. If we were to be concerned about classical references, would we not use the Latin Phlegraei campi instead of the Italian? But this is the English Wikipedia. --Bejnar (talk) 22:24, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Well that explains how the article was originally named, but not why we shouldn't follow the policy in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Article titles, namely in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English), Use the most commonly used English version of the name of the subject as the title of the article. "Phlegraean Fields" is the English version of the name and it appears in numerous reliable sources and encyclopedias. --Bejnar (talk) 15:58, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

What does that have to do specifically with Campi Flegrei (the topic of this entry)? Are you intending (or have you already done) to sprinkle every article about European volcanoes with this information? It seems that the new study might be mention (with cites and support) in the general volcanism or volcanoes articles. Consider also this might be relevant information on the Neanderthal extinction hypotheses article where there is already a mention.
