That's just one of the possible uses.

According to 'Henderson's dictionary of biological terms', 12th Ed., it's: tendency of an organism to stay in or return to its home area.

Staying at the parental territory can also be beacause of delayed dispersal, thus not necessarily remaining in the natal territory forever.Philopatric floater (talk) 09:29, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

This article has become too long. The thinking process meanders. Some sentences make no sense. Too much about birds, too little about other species, nothing on aquatic mammals.David notMD (talk) 11:53, 2 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
