Syonymy with cultivars edit

I have corrected a statement in the article: Cultivars like P. 'Pink Princess' and P. 'Imperial Red' are not the species P. erubescens but hybrids of it.--91.176.160.57 (talk) 17:20, 13 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

The problem with frequent bad edits edit

Hi all. Is anyone still bothering to watch over the page Philodendron erubescens? It seems to me the page is suffering from frequent bad edits.

My guess is that it's down to the current popularity of Philodendrons as house plants. Plant enthusiasts find their way onto the page and everyone feels the need to add their two cents.

These are probably mostly well-meaning edits but it seems to me they are often doing more harm than good to the article. For example a) Advertising a specific cultivar (perhaps commercial interest or just personal favourite); b) adding tangential information that doesn't belong here (e.g. discussion on "aroids" in general, discussing other plants); c) not following Wikipedia's Manual of Style. And so on.

Personally I think at the moment the page is kind of a lost cause. It feels pointless cleaning things up when I know it will be messed up again soon. Is anyone around who has the energy to regularly patrol the page and keep cleaning it? Any suggestions for a long-term solution? Gemena (talk) 10:46, 2 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
