Following the consensus of the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Private Phillip Lynch, I have erased this article (which was created based on a misspelling of an Irish soldier named Philip Lynch), and replaced it with an article about the Australian politician Phillip Lynch. The original text read thus:

Phillip Lynch, aka Phillip Columba Lynch, was a PVT E-2 with the 38th Infantry Regiment, (2nd Infantry Division), US Army. He was born in Brooklawn, Kilconly, Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland, on the 12th July 1929. He enlisted in San Francisco, California. He was killed in action in North Korea on the 27th August 1951; his remains were interred in Kilconly parish cemetery.

Private Lynch, though worthy of a memorial, was not thought to be an appropriate subject for an encyclopedia. Please see the deletion page linked above for details of the discussion. Chick Bowen 22:38, 21 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Deputy Opposition Leader

edit

"For a time, he was also the Deputy Leader of the Opposition when the Liberal and Country parties ceased their coalition." I am not sure if this is correct since it has been historically recorded that two major non-Labor parties have not been in coalition during two periods of time, the first was during the first term of Lyons Government in the 1930s and briefly in 1987 due to the Joh for Canberra push.

I seem to remember reading somewhere a long time ago that the reason why Lynch was Deputy Leader of the Opposition was because the then Liberal Opposition Leader Billy Mackie Snedden had refused to give the title to Country Party leader Doug Anthony. In fact every Deputy Liberal Leader in Opposition since Lynch has been the Deputy Opposition Leader not the National Party Leader.--The Shadow Treasurer 17:11, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
