Fleet

I propose we clean up the Future Fleet article a bit, we need some sources of information on this section if we are to get this Article to A - class. I'll try and work on the Aircraft incedents section, so at least everything is sourced. - Hopefully we can get this up in the Quality scale! LoveBus 08:28, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey there! Love your idea! I'll be working on the fleet table and get some more sources about them eliminating their First Class. pikdig (talk) 16:19, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Thanks for the reply. Good to hear! Right now im looking for the news article outlining PAL's Future Fleet plans (back in 2006), I have saved the News Report on my hardrive, but still need to find the online link it originated from! so, It might take some time. In the meantime i'm going to look into the Aircraft Incidents section (Accidents)... Got a few good sites. Cheers! - Hopefully we can get this great article to become featured someday. Always good to have a number of people working on the article. Lovebus 04:12, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

I know that PAL uses the long-range widebodies (747 and A340) for domestic operations sometimes, but are these actually scheduled? What I mean is, do these ac regularly fly these routes? Nixenzo (talk) 05:54, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, PAL does fly sheduled flights with widebodies to domestic destinations. Primarily Cebu and Davao. Their are also flights to General Santos and Puerto Princesa using Widebodies. While im talking of personal experience, these are also backed up with PAL's official Timetable (which you can download on their website, i believe theirs a link in the article). To answer your question, yes, PAL does fly Sheduled Domestic flights with Widebody Aircraft :) Lovebus 14:13, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Is it possible if we return the 747-400 to the Fleet page? Whilst it is slated for retirement, some 747s are still serving until 30th June. --202.125.102.33 (talk) 02:40, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Medium-term fleet plan

The article has indicated that it will expand its long haul fleet. Just to clarify, besides the 777-300, will PAL also have new long haul Airbus A340s as well? --124.106.135.198 11:25, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

    • PAL has not announced any plan's to purchase any different type's of aircraft, Currently the 773ER looks like the main contender. Until Then, We cannot guess what will happen. There have not been reports in any other intrest other than the 777-300ER, they did look over the A340-600 at one point, It was rumoured. But As far as i can see, the 773ER is their choice, that they will stick to. Until their's any factual information of a new aircraft for PAL, We can't say what "might" happen. Mabuhay!. --tomauer 06:12, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

The article says that PAL plans to expand its medium-haul fleet by adding 2 more. What is the source for this info and what is/are the candidate aircraft/s for this? --58.69.193.32 13:53, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

    • Hello, The mid-term fleet plan was announced a while back in late 2006 by PAL, I'm not sure if your in the Philippines let alone a reader of the local Philippine Newspapers, but it was a full scale article when i read it. I believe their would be some sources on the internet, likely on PAL's news "Archive". the candidates at the time where the 777-300ER (Which they obviously chose). the others where the A350, 787 and A380. As for now, their are only rumours and speculation that they may order one of those aircraft in future as for now. I will try to find a website that has the article soon. Thanks tomauer 13:12, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Fiesta (economy) class section of the article

It seems as if stuff related to Mabuhay (business) class are injected into this section. One of them is the ambience of the new A319/A320 cabin. Also, you said something about the new AVOD in the same. Is the AVOD on the new A319/A320 aircraft applicable to fiesta class as well? That part originally said:

"The new cabin is equipped with Panasonic’s eFX inflight entertainment system, considered cutting-edge technology in the industry and capable of providing Audio/Video On-Demand (AVOD) to passengers. The seats on the A319 offer a pitch of up to 30 inches. The airline plans to retrofit the fleet with the new cabin and AVOD capabilities, and apply them on newer aircraft."

As far as I know, PAL said that this AVOD in the A319 is for Mabuhay class and they didn't say much about it being in economy. I had to remove it until someone can clarify this. Please clarify this if you can. Thanks. --58.69.193.47 06:20, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Would anybody else know the typical seat pitch and dimensions of a Fiesta Class seat? --124.106.135.197 21:56, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

New York City?

Can we have the source of information that says that PAL is planning a route to NYC?

A380

I wonder why Philippine Airlines isn't making any purchases of the new A380s from Airbus? It would be quite nice to have giant jets which could accomodate more passengers. 61.9.126.41 08:34, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

That's not related in anyway to this discussion thread, Philippine Airlines is smart for not purchasing the A380, They may in future, But for now they need to focus on the priorities, They know what their doing. Sure it would be nice, but this is an off-topic post. Please only post if you are asking a question, or a suggesting something etc.. this part isn't used for general discussions. tomauer 06:58, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

There's the news that Philippine Airlines will never order 3-5 Airbus A380-800 next year. The deliveries of these Airbuses are scheduled on 2013-2015. Probably, if the Philippines will win the 2018 Asian Games bid, the A380 will be use by PAL and later on will be use for flight from Diosdado Macapagal Int. Airport to New York, Chicago, London and Paris. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.32.173.98 (talk) 01:19, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Flights To Rome And Frankfurt

I have read the headline that Philippine Airlines will have flights from Manila to Rome and Frankfurt anytime this year after resuming of flights to London via Heathrow Airport. Chongqing flights

Will temporarily remove these portions:

On July 27, 2007, the airline signed a memorandum of understanding that opens the way for the introduction of flights to the southwestern Chinese metropolis of Chongqing, using the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.

Beginning March 18, 2007, Philippine Airlines will fly the Manila-Chongqing-Chengdu-Manila route to increase its presence in China.

They signed an MOA in July but flew in March? Nixenzo (talk) 07:34, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

    • They signed the MOA in July 2007, they will be flying on March 2008, this is a simple typo. I will add it back in with correct Dates, if you want my reference, go to www.philippineairlines.com and look up that flight.. it says *Effective March 18, 2008tomauer (talk) 10:39, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Seat plan

Someone has been changing the seat arrangement for PAL aircraft. Here's the reality, people:

  • While it is true that First Class did end and PAL merged First Class and Mabuhay Class, their seat plans still show them as First Class seats.
  • When the refurbishing of PAL aircraft is ongoing, by the time this is done, we do not know how many seats will emerge from the new seating arrangement. It could either be that Fiesta Class will be expanded, seats kept the way they are, or Mabuhay Class seats will be reduced but keeping the same number of Fiesta Class seats.

For the sake of accuracy, let's stick with the PAL seat plan. I hope to reinstate the number of First Class seats, but with a note that First Class seats have been merged into Mabuhay Class despite not appearing so in the seat plan. --Sky Harbor 14:09, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

FYI, on the current seat maps of PAL, they removed First Class from the seat maps. pikdig (talk) 19:44, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, it's been quite some time since I last saw PAL seat maps. I wonder if they'll retain the arrangement in the refurbished cabin? --Sky Harbor 01:32, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Philippine Airlines Website renewal

The Official Philippine Airlines Website has gone under a total revamp. ALL the links have been changed around due to this. Its a great new website, but for this wikipedia article to remain sourced we have to update nearly all sources. Sadly this will take some time and work, but if we all work together it shouldnt be hard. Its very rare for them to change the website for a very long time after this though. So please do your part! Its also an advantage that we will have very updated links, so we can submit this article for a review in the future. So i hope. Please do your part, we should all contribute Lovebus 14:05, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps fork off an article something like Philippines Airlines incidents and accidents, summarizing that article in the relevant section of this article and providing a {{main}} link to it. In the forked article, it would be appropriate to clarify in the lead section what the guidelines for content in that article might be. -- Boracay Bill (talk) 07:44, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Why Garuda Indonesia (and )?

I have noticed since the past months that some photos and even the website of PAL in the article are replaced by the ones used in Garuda Indonesia. Do you guys think these anon editors are not satisfied with PR and replace it with GA?

PS: PR is Philippine Airlines, GA is Garuda Indonesia, the 2-letter code is based on its IATA code. (Pinas Central (talk) 07:00, 14 June 2014 (UTC))

Just a bit of vandalism, somebody has changed them back. MilborneOne (talk) 15:40, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello everybody! It seems that some anons and even some users still continue to vandalise this article with contents from Garuda and Pokémon. Recently, they are planning to merge PAL's article with Garuda Indonesia, but no discussion was made on Garuda's talk page. B777-300ER Seat Configuration

Hi! First of all, congratulations to our country's flagship airline for its recent achievements and the acquisition of its first A321!

Now, I know that PAL has indeed debuted premium economy seats on its A321. I was surprised to see that its 777-300ER has a new seat configuration with not just premium economy, but first class seats as well! I can't seem to find a source on this on the page or on other sources.

I know PAL phased out its first class in 2006 except on its own A340s (not the Iberia ones), but I have yet to hear of news that PAL reinstated a First Class, named it Maharlika, and is installing it on its 77Ws. Could we seek some verification for this? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aloy1016 (talkcontribs) 05:14, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Kingfisher Airlines Codeshare

According to PAL's website [1], there is no such mention of codeshare flights with Kingfisher in their MNL-DEL / MNL-BKK-DEL routes. No mention too in Kingfisher Website [2] despite the fact that a reference has been provided that the airline has codeshare flights or is partners with Kingfisher, someone must check on this. Clark hub

Yes, I have read there announcement that they have plans to make Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (CRK) as a hub. Now you may be wondering why I am reverting the edits and have bolded the word "plans". Well first and foremost is is just a plan, meaning it is not yet definite. And secondly, they still don't operate a single flight out of CRK yet. Meaning, it should not be placed in the infobox. Although if you scroll down the article, you can see that it is indeed cited that they are planning on making CRK a hub. pikdig (talk) 11:05, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
