References. edit

I just edited the article and fixed the attribution to provide inline references. How do I remove the flag at the top and who put it there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Magician1111 (talkcontribs) 02:47, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Citing sources#Inline citations mean that the information is referenced with citations next to the information, like this.[1]

References edit

  1. ^ Zample, Eck (1999) Journal of Stuff, volume 5, pp.55
There are currently only 3 external links, and none of them are inline. -- Jeandré (talk), 2010-08-12t20:56z
Actually, they were inline, only they were formatted with (parens) rather than the <:ref> tags. I changed them to the format, but they are only partial citations and do not provide sources for a significant number of claims in the article, so I have changed the flag/tag to be "refimprove". Active Banana and others: Thank you for your suggestions for improvement. I did not write this article originally, but have taken some time to correct minor errors and add a few facts and references. However, there seems to be a problem. The article clearly shows 'References.' The References List is NOT missing. Most of the references are from books, some out of print, not online resources. The links at the bottom are for general reference only. The direct citations are clearly numbered and refer to paper texts. Please review the references I have added and advise which specific paragraph or sentence may need any additional supporting citation(s). As to formatting, a little help would be appreciated rather than deleting or putting my material in hidden comments, or whatever you call it. If I have made any mistakes in my ignorance of all the forms in Wikipedia, please forgive me, and help make it right, if you would be so kind. I don't regularly work with Wikipedia. Thank you, David Leland Hyde, Philip Hyde's son. October 22, 2011.
