How come all of a sudden he is British? Born in Germany, raised in Germany, raced in Germany. Then thanks to the accident-of-birth-card, "hey my dad's British", he comes to London and wins a Gold at the Olympics. This is a clear example of why the whole thing about nation states is either unequivocally wrong or just purely opportunistic. You may not be able to choose your parents, but you can choose your nationality and which country you will compete for in sporting events. As the article explains, Hindes has dual British and German nationality, but has chosen to compete for Great Britain at the Olympics. We therefore categorise him as both British and German, but put more emphasis on 'British' as that seems to be what he more identifies with. Robofish (talk) 01:53, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
