Oxidation tendency edit

"In sulfinic acids, sulfur has the +4 oxidation state. Thus, they are prone to oxidization to sulphonic acids as well as reduction via sulphenic acids (+2) to thiols.[1]" seems to be wrong since thiols have oxidation state -2 at sulfur. Well it turns out that the tendency of functional groups to oxidize does not correlate with oxidation states. Also, here the text is probably referring to kinetic facility, not thermodynamic change. --Smokefoot (talk) 23:12, 19 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

That is benzoic acid not phenylsulfinic acid in the first picture.
