This term "phenotypic heterogeneity" is more properly used to indicate the condition where the same mutant allele gives different phenotypes in different individuals. For instance, see [1]Wolf U. The genetic contribution to the phenotype. Hum Genet. 1995 Feb;95(2):127-48; and Wolf U. Identical mutations and phenotypic variation. Hum Genet. 1997 Sep;100(3-4):305-21.
