Architectural influences section and sources edit

I added a section on the architectural influences which impacted Peter I's creation of the Petrine Baroque style. Included in this section are subsections on the Naryshkin Baroque style which surrounded Peter in his youth and was named after his maternal family, the Dutch Baroque, and other cultural influences. There is still a bit of work to be done on this section, I will be working in the coming days to round out the content and relate it back to the main topic. The inclusion of this section also added a robust source to this article (the article previously had no sources) and I will be working to add content from more sources to this article to make it more reliable. The content which was previously on this page will be marked with "citation needed" until I can find something from my own sources to back it up. Images edit

I moved the existing image down in the article to correspond to the section where it is mentioned by name. I added two more images to correspond with the sections on Peter I's architectural influences. Years of construction should be added to the image captions once found. A main photo for the article should be added to the intro once the most prominent example of this style is determined.Kmitchell2015 (talk) 05:57, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I have found through reading James Cracraft's "The Petrine Revolution in Russian Architecture" that the Peter-Paul Church designed by the architect Dominico Trezzini is regarded as the most important building in the Petrine Baroque style. I will be adding an image of this to the top of the page in the intro section. Kmitchell2015 (talk) 10:26, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Notable architects edit

I think the next improvement that should be made on this page is the inclusion of a notable architects section with subheadings for a few of the major exemplars of this style and images of some of the Petrine Baroque buildings which they designed. In the lead section of the article, a few architects were already mentioned, but without a source that shares where the list was pulled from. I plan to conduct more research in order to cite this list and expand upon it in this proposed section. Kmitchell2015 (talk) 04:01, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I added the section on Notable Architects and began working on a subsection for Dominico Trezzini including an image of the Twelve Colleges. There is still a little bit of work that needs to be done on his entry, especially since he is considered one of the most important architects of this style, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to have a little bit of information in the meantime. I have also begun looking into more architects that can be included in this section. Kmitchell2015 (talk) 11:21, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
I have gone ahead and added in sub-headings in the notable architects section for names that I saw reoccurring in my research materials. They currently do not have any content underneath them (If anyone else would like to work on this page, this would be the section to work on first). I used wikilinks for the names so that even though there isn't content yet, viewers can still head to the Wikipedia pages of those people to learn more. Areas For Improvement edit

These are the areas of this page that currently need work:

  • Notable Architects
  • Finding citations for the work that had been on the page before its renovation
  • Proofreading and adjusting language to fit Wikipedia's standards
The Trezzini section and the Architectural Influences on Peter I could use a look over

Peter I vs. Peter the Great edit

I've gone through the article and changed the wording to refer to Peter as Peter the Great instead of Peter I. While he goes by both names, Peter the Great is the more recognized of the two and I believe this will make the article easier to read. I kept in a sentence that explains that Peter the Great is also known as Peter I, but changed all other references throughout the article to "Peter the Great" or just "Peter" for the sake of consistency.
