A bit of a mess

edit

Unreferenced; contains uncited opinions; and contains such confusing prose as "The general form of the shrine is Gothic, 1 but the details are those of the 16th-century Italian Renaissance treated 1". At least part of this may be a cut-and-paste job. - Jmabel | Talk 23:04, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

A bit of history

edit

How we got to where we are. Originally, it was less than a stub. Then the two Vischer stubs were combined to create a Vischer Family of Nuremberg page and greatly expanded and referenced. Then the Peter Vischer the Elder portion was pulled out into separate article without references by someone else. I just put references back in.--CSvBibra 23:13, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Language on style

edit

"In technique few bronze sculptors have ever equalled him, but his designs are marred by an excess of mannered realism and a too exuberant fancy." This sounds like a copy-paste from a reference, one written by someone who happens to like a different style, I don't see how that opinion is valid here, or very encyclopedic? As the refs make clear, the text is based on/largely from the 1911 EB, when he was well out of fashion. Feel free to update it, with sources. Johnbod (talk) 01:19, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
