Jewish - So Nu? edit

Peter's work is in no way related to his Judaism. In any case, the inclusion of his brother's career as a rabbi says enough in that direction, should anyone be interested. I don't believe his brother's work is relevant here, but will leave that in - however, inclusion of religious background in this case is not relevant, and so I have removed the word "jewish" from the description. - Corporal Tunnel 19:30, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure? 'Cause I was gonna suggest that we move this page to Peter Sagal (Jewish guy). -Taco325i 15:38, 1 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Does it really matter whether his work is related to Judaism? It is typical of encyclopedic entries for a person's ethnicity to be included. This is certainly the case on wikipedia. If you don't believe this is the case, I encourage you to look up the entries of Richard Feynman, Albert Einstein, Barbara Streissand, Joel and Ethan Coen, Kirk Douglas, Ben Stiller, Bernard-Henri Lévy, Nicholas Sarkozy, Jack Shaw, and etc. and etc. and et cetera. It is clearly the policy of wikipedia to include ethnic background in a person's description. The above examples have Jewish ethnicity in their backgrounds, but this convention is certainly not limited to jews. I'm putting jewish back in his description unless you can make a compelling case not too. 68.247.168.149 (talk) 20:27, 3 February 2008 (UTC)GMMReply
Einstein's entry doesn't begin, "Einstein was a jewish, German-born physicist." Rather, it's mentioned first in the section on his youth ("Albert Einstein was born into a Jewish family"), and later relating to his work with Zionism, his struggle with Nazism, and his specific contributions to Jewish culture. Putting "Jewish" first in this article makes it seem like the author feels Jews need to be labeled as such up-front, to make sure we know they're not Christian or whatever. I'm sure that wasn't intended, but when combined with the fact that "Jewish" is uncapitalized and separated by a comma from "American," it doesn't seem flattering. I've grouped the references to his family and ethnicity together, what do you think? 72.244.207.9 (talk) 09:07, 17 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Peter Sagal's WP in Need of Updating edit

Peter Sagal's WP has not had a significant update since 2008. Much has happened since then.

I am in the process of a updating the page with new information, better and further references to all facts old and new.

If you are aware of important information that should be included, please let me know.

Well Shortsword it is 2021 now, up for any more updating? NPR has a bio for Sagal here; I do not know how often it is updated. On the show lately, he mentions a new baby at his home, not mentioned in the bio. He wrote at least 2 blog posts for Chicago Magazine starting here. There is nothing about his personal life. I thought over the years it was mentioned that he was married and then divorced and then married again. Names were not mentioned. Not much in the way of sources, but fairly recent. - - Prairieplant (talk) 17:58, 16 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I found a mention of his divorce in the 2013 article by Trainor. So there is now a two-sentence section calked Personal life. - - Prairieplant (talk) 12:24, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Far, far, far too many minute details that ought to be deleted edit

This is not the author's autobiography. Even if he may think so.

It's an encyclopedia article.

There is every reason to omit the colossal pile of irrelevant minutiae that it currently includes, and no reason to retain it.50.205.142.50 (talk) 13:17, 18 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Agree. I've made a bare start at making this more encyclopedic, and have tagged it as resume-like, the closest tag I could find that states the issue.--Tenebrae (talk) 14:12, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Agree. I've removed quite a bit of the PEACOCK language today. We don't need to know where he had to move to take a job, or a list of his marathon runs, or the name of his college roommate. A list of panelists and hosts on his radio show would fit on the show's page, not here. Perhaps the tag can now be removed, assuming these changes stick.148.75.167.151 (talk) 05:52, 21 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
