The result of the move request was: There is a consensus for Option 2/Not moved below. (non-admin closure) IffyChat -- 17:45, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

– Sole Wikipedia article main title header, thus obviating the need for the parenthetical qualifier "(footballer)". A hatnote would point to the redirect for Marvel superhero Star-Lord's alternative identity "Peter Quill". Alternatively, if consensus skews towards the superhero alternative identity as being WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT and, since a hatnote at Star-Lord already points to Peter Quill (footballer), then the Peter Quill (disambiguation) page should be deleted per WP:ONEOTHER. If, on the other hand, consensus decides that there is WP:NOPRIMARYTOPIC, Peter Quill (disambiguation) could be moved to Peter Quill, with both the superhero redirect as well as the footballer listed on the dab page. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 01:55, 19 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • So, to clarify the nomination, there's three options here (depending on which you think the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC is for the name "Peter Quill"):
Option 1 (Footballer primary): Move Peter Quill (footballer) to "Peter Quill" (replacing the redirect to "Star-Lord"), use a hatnote to link to Star-Lord. Delete the no-longer-needed disambiguation page per WP:TWODABS.
Option 2 (Star-Lord primary): Keep "Peter Quill" pointed to Star-Lord, use a hatnote to link to Peter Quill (footballer) (like now). Delete the no-longer-needed disambiguation page. (So, basically, the current status quo BUT delete the unneeded dab page per WP:TWODABS.)
Option 3 (No primary): Don't move Peter Quill (footballer) to "Peter Quill", but don't have "Peter Quill" redirect to Star-Lord either. Move the disambiguation page to "Peter Quill", with no primary topic for the name between the two.
So I guess people can just say "Support Option 1/2/3" below. Paintspot Infez (talk) 02:48, 19 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
In ictu oculi, I appreciate your kind words (about this being uncharacteristic of me, although I am a drinker of tea, rather than coffee, and this nomination was submitted in my time zone at 20:55). Since you leave no doubt regarding opposition to my primary option, may I presume that, among the three options that I proposed and which were so thoughtfully clarified above by Paintspot Infez, you support option 2, per arguments presented by Nohomersryan and Ortizesp? —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 17:27, 19 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
But what's going on. Are you actually proposing
Peter Quill (footballer)Peter Quill
That is ridiculous for the footballer stub to be at "Peter Quill". In ictu oculi (talk) 17:58, 20 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Since Wikipedia has only two "Peter Quill" headers — one, Peter Quill (footballer) and the other, a redirect to Star-Lord — I incorrectly assumed that there may be consensus for removing the qualifier "(footballer)" from the only article bearing that name. However, being aware of the high popularity of Marvel superheroes, my two alternative proposals envisioned either retaining the qualifier "footballer" and deleting the Peter Quill (disambiguation) page, per WP:ONEOTHER, or converting the dab page a two-name list, with neither name being primary.
Although my nomination spotlights option 1, after a passage of two days, option 2 appears to be the most intuitive one, especially since there was no good reason for creation of the dab page in the first place — it is not mentioned in any hatnote — its existence is hidden and it is of no use to users. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 01:32, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
