Rated Start-class. Could use photo, infobox, ISBN numbers, more biographical detail. US 30 22:22, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

What happened to Matthiessen's children???

Early life edit

There's nothing in this article about the subject's early life, family, education, etc. That's a pretty big hole in any biographical article, and the more so in one about a writer. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 15:46, 2 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Climate change element removed edit

An editor has removed a substantive but undocumented line about ocean levels in the Ice Age and the Bering "land bridge", here. The removal seems to have some validity because there was a reference to climate change -- which is associated with human-sourced climate impacts in the modern era -- relative to the Ice Age (which of course did involve a climate change, albeit a non-anthropomorphic one). Unfortunately the edit also seems likely to have removed something valid and notable from the author's 1959's Wildlife in America. I have no ready access to the volume but encourage finding a way to recast and restore the bulk of the edit. Swliv (talk) 23:53, 7 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Possible typo edit

There seems to be a typo: "won awards in both its first and first paperback editions." Should this be "first hardcover and first paperback"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dougkramer (talkcontribs) 04:40, 16 April 2014

I suppose the word "hardcover" could be added, but the context seems to make it fairly clear that that is was is meant. --VeryCrocker (talk) 12:41, 16 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
