Talk:Peter Gray (psychologist)

What counts as a "psychologist"? edit

Peter Gray is often described as a psychologist. In the title he's identified as a psychologist, and in the article he's described as a "research professor of psychology". Now someone has apparently attempted to add a tag to rename the page, saying that the term "psychologist" is misleading and false. Is Peter Gray a "psychologist" or not? Someone's mad that he pulled out of the ACE conference after Cheok decided to shove his ideology down everyone's throats.2601:140:8980:106F:7561:F2BE:2BED:AEFA (talk) 13:20, 5 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Requests edit

I received by email some sensible requests regarding the article, which I'd like to record here.

  • Gray has published additional books with Tipping Point Press, and it would be good to add them to the article.
  • Gray is listed as an author on another book. (I'm not certain of details.)
  • Concern was indicated that the only work cited of Gray's was his thesis. I take this as being a request to expand and/or source the "Work" section.

The requests were presented as coming from the subject of the page; I have not tried to verify this provenance, and I don't think that's necessarily required in this case. I do think that some caution is required: the Tipping Point publisher is fairly closely affiliated with Gray, for example; and we can't use WP:PRIMARY sources for a discussion of his research. (The thesis listing is a WP:SECONDARY source for the fact that he got a PhD from Rockefeller.) I'll look at implementing some of these requests as much as I can find time over the next few days.
