Location of Emory

This article states Buck attended Emory University in Athens, GA. That college is actually located in Atlanta, GA. I'm not sure if the fact that he attend this school is incorrect, or simply the location of it. If someone could verify that would be wonderful. --BrokenStoic 22:05, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

OK, I found two references for Peter Buck's college attendance. The interview with Bertis Downs (you have to scroll about halfway down the page to find it) states that Peter Buck was an undecided major at UGA when they met. Another point that needs a citable reference, I am fairly certain that most of the other members of the band no longer reside primarily in Athens, but I can't find a source for that. Also, Emory University is definitely in Atlanta (not Athens). There is a Wuxtry records near Emory as well as near UGA in Athens, and I think Peter Buck may have worked at the Emory location before working for the Athens location, but I can't find any reference for that either. --Roswell native 04:19, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Intro - "the seminal 1980s alternative rock band R.E.M.."

REM wasn't just a 1980s band. This could be improved but no sure how.

Actually it might be best if it just said "...the rock band R.E.M.". If anyone actually needs to know who R.E.M. are then they can follow the link, if not then any description is largely redundant. I think the main problem with the intro is that it describes Peter Buck purely as the guitarist for R.E.M. when he is more than that - OK that is certainly by far his biggest claim to fame but he's done session work and played with a lot of other people.

If editors really feel the need for adjectives and pronouns in the intro then maybe they should be applied to Peter Buck rather than R.E.M. There is definitely and argument for describing Buck's guitar style as influential or at least distinctive.

Pot of Yoghurt?!

What exactly is a pot of yoghurt? I'm assuming that means a cup of yogurt, unless airlines ladle out spoonfuls of yogurt from large black cauldrons, which have a tendency to explode when touched. --M.Neko 08:26, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

If Buck was a British musician then "pot" would be OK. But he is American and to Americans "pot" would indicate at least one litre volume. I understand you brits want your way and you can have it with your own but Buck is ours and the word should be "cup".Martiniano (talk) 02:58, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Firstly, as I understand it Wikipedia is intended to be international and the articles are not "owned" by any particular nationality. If you really want to go down that route then someone will surely point out it was a British plane and a British court case. Secondly, if in doubt then it ought to come down to the cited sources - one of which makes no reference to the container and the other of which uses the term "tub". WP:ENGVAR The national variety of English is not determined by the sources used in an article. There are several factors, but the two most germane are: style already in use and the scope of the article. Since Buck is an American and the style in use is already American, the article should be in American English. Personal record collection

"The Buck-owned Crocodile Cafe"??!!! In which universe?

The Crocodile Cafe is the project of Peter Buck's former spouse, Stephanie Dorgan. She was a disenchanted lawyer who adored music, apparently quit her day job, and opened the club in 1991 after purchasing the empty building. She married Buck 4 years later and they divorced earlier this year. She's not mentioned in the article by name (sour grapes?), even though she's also the mother of his twin girls. According to this article, Buck apparently gave birth to the children himself and "owns" the Crocodile cafe as well. That link leads to an error. Besides that, I've heard it mentioned that he's Atheist, but I've never read him say that in all the interviews I've read. Encyclopedic content

It's a bit strange for an article that pretend to be "encyclopedic" to have a chapter about a yogurt incident but not a word about Peter Buck's gear ( amps, guitars...)

Many guitarists do not have a word said about their gear. REM Is On, which is now REM Accelerate, used to have a ton of old articles, including ones from Peter and old guitar magazines. I have lots of photos that show Peter's gear, but I'm not sure if that would be reference enough for Wiki. --BuddyOfHolly (talk) 16:44, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Music Section

The whole top section of "Music" has a source about Peter's Ric which is unreliable for the information given. In '96 when Peter gave an interview to Guitar World, he said his Telecaster was stolen, not broken, and there was no mention of the price of the Ric. The information is false! It should remain off unless a better source is given. A picture of a guitar does not say anything about how it was bought, when, or price. Nor does it say a Tele was smashed! You cannot make up stories on Wikipedia. --BuddyOfHolly (talk) 20:52, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
