In my opinion, if we wanted to advanced explore and totally understand this vision, we need to participant-observe what Lord Jesus has done during his man's life, then shift it as the grand theory into explaining other visions saints have encountered. Jesus is God's son representing the willing of God Trinity. Jesus' life, itself, should be a accumulated channel directly highway upon to the holly heaven. Therefore, his life has been transcendentalist passing by several universes and seen some visions about how human beings' mortal life would be on-going (if we make what kind of choices), which finally have lasted for about thousands years till now. Therefore, this period until his crucifixion would be the original root for explaining saints' visions following. Then, what has been said:

Clean and Unclean: Root

Mark - ch 7 1-16 'The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered round Jesus and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were 'unclean', that is, unwashed ...When they come from the market-place they do not eat unless they wash... So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, 'Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with 'unclean' hands? ... ' He replied, 'Isaiah was right when he prophesied about your hypocrites; as it is written: These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by me.' ... Again Jesus called the crowed to him and said, 'Listen to me everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him clean'.' If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear ...'

Mathew - ch 15 10-11 'Jesus called the crowed to him and said, 'Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean'.' Enlightenments: Indeed, Jesus has already accepted some 'unclean' behaviours regarding with eating food. The reason is because that they are 'outside' one person, and not from their 'inside' - their faiths, believes and dreams. These things 'outside' can never influent their inside kindness, peacefulness and forgiveness directly towards God Trinity. Then, growing from this root, Peter's vision has developed to be of more inclusiveness up-dating with era' historical progress: Rather than only the customs and traditions of eating food, the food itself belonging to different races' cultures and customs can also be accepted - 'they are all cleaned by God'; thereby, even Peter himself didn't need to fear but accepted for Christianity. That's a very important sustainability, which means the forgiveness of Christianity can accept more disciplines with diverse 'outsides' habits but a true 'heart' inside. Indeed, how to eat food and food itself was representing peoples' outside situations, and they are tightly integrated as a whole, which were all made the inclusiveness by Christianity. Then, travelling from food to people, let us read another case:

Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman: Root

Luke - ch 36 - 50 'Now one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, so he went to the Pharisee's house and relined at the table. When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then, she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them... Then he turned towards the woman and said to Simon, 'Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven - for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little' ... Jesus said to the woman 'Your faith has saved you; go in peace

Enlightenments: From this case, we can see that the judgements of forgiveness made by Jesus were never depending on the outside that someone was looked as if impure or pure, but depending on whether or not his or her willing was with the tendency to respect lord, forgive his or her own past sins and turn to the peaceful heaven kingdom. He never refused to save others who were sinned but currently turned to Lord. Developing from this root, Peter's vision can be explained as: not only the food, but no matter what nationalities, personalities, ,races and skin-colours, even some sinful 'appearances' outside have been shown, merely if they currently can turn to Lord God Trinity, they can all be saved and baptised. All in all, in my opinion, this vision has developed from the roots in Jesus's Time, and with fresh sustainability which has fresh vitality up to date.
