1974 edit

Pete Shelley was a full time student in 1974. He rarely missed classes at that point. He did not record Sky Yen then. Fletcherbrian (talk) 01:09, 22 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

people don't necessarily read articles sequentially edit

Some people are just going to look at the personal life and death section first, see the name "Diggle", and wonder "who the hell is Diggle"? Then they'll have to scroll up, possibly use Ctrl-F, just to find out who he is. There is no wikipedia guideline against repeating first names, nor is it "otiose" to identify him as a band mate. Yes, we have no control over how people read articles, so what do you suggest, repeat the first name of every person throughout? That's doesn't work, so we go with consistency and keep to surnames. If people aren't reading sequentially, they will understand if some things don't fit. Yes, the term "band mate" is otiose, and hideously unencyclopaedic too. - SchroCat (talk) 23:15, 7 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
No I never suggested that at all and you know it. Don't understand how "band mate" is so "hideous", never heard anyone use such hyperbole over such a mundane term before. Diggle is a peripheral character in the narrative, and he is not particularly famous. Multiple paragraphs and sections have passed since the previous mention. People who wonder "who was Pete Shelley?" are quite likely to skip to this section and have no idea who "Diggle" is. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 23:23, 7 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
If people skip sections they will miss information. "Never heard anyone use such hyperbole over such a mundane term before". Not been here long, then? Britmax (talk) 23:28, 7 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Funeral edit

Somebody should find this information and publish it. 81.158.21.16 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:21, 13 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Not us, though. This is not a newspaper and those who have to know will know. Britmax (talk) 19:38, 13 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Bisexuality edit

Why is Steve Diggle's speculation on Shelley's sexuality included in the personal life section when Shelley stated himself that he still identified as bisexual in later years? 161.112.2.6 (talk) 09:45, 2 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
