What should this article be about?
According to the revision history, the articles Customization and Personalization seem to have been started at the same time about five years ago. I don't think "customization" and "personalization" mean exactly the same thing, such that one entry should be a redirect to the other, rather than having its own article or redirecting to a subtopic. If anything, I think Customization (a specialized adaptation of a more generic product or service, such as clothing designed as uniforms for a particular sports team) should be the main topic, and Personalization (a type of customization specialized for a particular individual, such as the name of a team member embroidered or printed on one of those uniforms) should redirect there or to a subtopic, if it can't be expanded to its own article.
Should there be a separate article for Web personalization? I don't think of personalization in terms of web content delivery, as the article's originator apparently did; I think of specially made or modified goods. But how broad should the scope of this article be? Personalization technically can even refer to customizations initiated by the end user (websites often allow you to set preferences; people make art cars and case mods and sew their own clothes and decorate their own houses...). But even without discussing this, this article already has the potential to relate thematically to individuality in addition to marketing . B7T (talk) 07:15, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
"Promotional merchandise" section misleading
Promotional merchandise is usually produced in bulk and customized with information representing the company being advertised; but most of this section gives examples of items which may be uniquely produced for a particular person and not intended for marketing. B7T (talk) 07:15, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Transwiki "Mass personalization" section?
This section isn't well-written, but could be useful if improved. However, it seems better suited to advise salespersons or marketers than being an NPOV encyclopedic piece; maybe it should be moved to Wikibooks?
