§ History says, in the second paragraph:
- The name, "Persil", is derived from two of the original ingredients, sodium perborate and silicate. The original name was deemed unsuitable as an international brand because it is hard to pronounce in some languages.

German pronunciation? edit
In English-speaking Europe (Ireland and Britain), Persil is pronounced PER-sill, with the stress placed on the first syllable, but per-SILL in United States television advertisements, with the stress applied to the second syllable. What is the original German pronunciation? Knowing this could help to resolve the transatlantic conflict. O'Dea (talk) 01:23, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
