Perboewatan (apparently a Malay word of uncertain dervivation)... Could it dutch spelling? If it is then we could see [1].Aditthegrat 16:20, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's my guess that the '-boewatan' spelling is probably Dutch. The '-buatan' is more likely to be closer to the original. I asked in one of the newsgroups several years ago about the word, assuming it was Dutch, and the only response I got was a reference to a Malay word. Unfortunately, the newsgroup has apparently purged their archive- at least I couldn't find the thread when I looked for it several months ago. I used the term 'uncertain derivation' to indicate that I didn't know what the origin was; as opposed to 'unknown' which would imply that it is not known to anyone. It's a Dutch spelling. The Malay pronunciation would be "Per-Bu-Wa-Tan", modern Malaysian/Indonesian spelling Perbuatan. It's a Malay noun, meaning an "act", "deed" or "action", derived from the root word "buat" (English: do). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.71.170.249 (talk) 02:42, 30 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
