Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Pembroke Dock. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Notable people from Pembroke Dock edit

A few days ago I posted this list of notable people from Pembroke Dock. The list was selected from [Category:People from Pembroke Dock]. It was deleted by User:SovalValtos with this explanation: "Associations not cited, some not even in linked articles". I have engaged with him on his talk page about whether citations are needed but without success. I would like to republish the list as a new section. Any problems?

ArbieP you must adhere to Wikipedia policy including WP:V. Please find sources, which you have checked, that the notable people are or were from Pembroke Dock and cite each person's connection. Other Wikipedia articles are not a reliable source for this one. If you want 'success' in changing policy about whether citations are needed you will have to do so in the appropriate manner and not by discussion on this or my talk page.SovalValtos (talk) 07:46, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
User:SovalValtos. WP:Burden wants citations for quotations, challenged and contentious material. I don't think where you are born fits those categories, nor do I see a risk of damaging someone's reputation to say they were born in [Pembroke Dock]. Instead, it strikes me as useful, informative and uncontentious - and as such, welcome, like Wikipedia should be. Does Wikipedia really want to ban such information? I don't think so. Or to put it contentiously, I put readability above nitpickery. Have a good day ArbieP (talk) 09:57, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I believe an (unspoken) compromise has been reached on this issue as a result of contributions to [Pembroke, Pembrokeshire]. Some references have been added where they are available. Also a note calling for further references is published too. In the belief (and hope) this is the case, I have published the above list with three refs. ArbieP (talk) 16:51, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Removing the material replaced without refs after challenge to provide such WP:BURDEN.SovalValtos (talk) 09:17, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
ArbieP - It really isn’t about Wikipedia wanting to “ban” anything. Nor is it a choice between “readability” and “nitpickery”. The bottom line is that we’re all trying to contribute to an encyclopaedia. As such, information we include should be Verifiable. That’s really fundamental to readers having confidence in what is published here. I would suggest a more profitable approach would be to invest the time you’re expending here in digging up the necessary sourcing. It can be found, e.g. Phil Carradice,[1], Bert Hodgkinson,[2], Andy Goddard,[3][4], Tal Selley,[5]. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 12:05, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Re-added the four above with refs, with thanks to User:KJP1 for his diligence. I trust that concludes the issue here. ArbieP (talk) 15:01, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
