When is the mentioned name for Peggy's brother, Pete, revealed? I don't recall ever seeing an episode in which his name is given.Jmg124 (talk) 18:43, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Two-year teaching degree

Was watching the episode where she and Minh are running for School Board, she mentions to Minh that she has a 2 year college degree (while driving in the car with the t-shirts). Just wondering if there should be some mention of her having an associate degree in the article (even though I'm pretty sure that there is no such thing as an Associate degree in Education!). Apparently Minh has a 4 year (Bachelor) degree as Minh attempts to trump her in the campaign. Her intelligence

She

• was unknowingly used by a fetish porn site,
• is unable to learn Spanish, despite effort,
• thinks she can speak Spanish,
• has not even a semi-accuarte view of herself,
• has no clue what others really think of her,
• was the last on the block to realize Joseph's parentage.

Yet despite this "Peggy is, in fact, extremely intelligent"???!!!

I was going to say. Shouldn't we mention that her Spanish is terrible. She frequently mispronounces the words and uses the wrong words when trying to speak to others.

I don't think it makes her stupid that she can't learn Spanish. It makes her stupid that she THINKS she can, but can't.

I'd say Peggy is quite intelligent in certain areas, but also quite naive and too egocentric to tell the difference between areas where she has talent and those where she doesn't. Boggle and Spanish for instance. Ace of Sevens 23:19, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

She's the prototypical example of the phrase "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." There's even a point where she utters that exact sentiment (entirely without irony) in reference to the suggestion she get a job other than substitute teaching (I believe she says "That would involve doing, and I'm a teacher.") She's a self-professed expert in Spanish who's so incompetent at the language there's an entire episode dedicated to her ending up on trial in Mexico because of it. I always assumed her skill at Boggle was meant as a joke about word puzzles not necessarily being any indicator of actual intelligence, despite superficial appearances to the contrary, much like her 2-year degree and her job as a substitute teacher (which she highlights as proof she's a genius among men).Court Appointed Shrub (talk) 09:24, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Peggy's Parents

The rugged cattle ranchers seen in a more recent episode of King of the Hill differs markedly from the middle-America, suburban life that the Platters are shown to have in Texas in the episode where Hank reveals how came down with mononucleosis. In the flashback there, Peggy's mother is a homemaker in horn-rimmed glasses correcting Peggy's grammar, who bears no resemblance to the later Montanan version. Her father, though unseen, was probably not intended to be a rancher in this setting. Although not the same I think they retconned her brother after a fashion. Her brother was originally indicated to be a person who had spoken to Hank, at least on the phone, about his fear of his ex-wife Leanne. Luanne had also called him in "Leanne's saga" and in that episode Leanne boasts of "kicking his butt." However when he appears he barely recognizes his daughter, Hank pretty much doesn't know him, and he seems a bit too large/tough to be beat up by Leanne. So generally it seemed clear before that he really was on an oil rig some of the time, although she's ditzy it seems unlikely that Luanne could call a prison without eventually realizing she's done so, and that he might be a bit of a milquetoast.--T. Why the reverts on her parents?

Argh, please stop reverting. The cattle-ranch parents were not invented until late in the series. There are plenty of conflicting examples from early episodes (such as Peggy's mother being on her speed-dial). This should be mentioned. J21 20:23, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Her skills

In one episode where she goes to see his parents in Montana, she exhibited her skills as a rancher and a horse-rider. In many episodes, including this one, she has exhibited her skills in using law in her or her family's interest somewhat like an amature lawyer. In most episodes, she seems unaware of these skills of hers. I haven't found any such mention in the article. I was wondering why? Szhaider 19:10, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

It's an old British shortening that works across several levels (like Robert-Rob-Bob). Margaret-Maggy-Peggy.

But has it ever been confirmed in the show? Have any of the characters ever called her Margaret? There are people who are named Robert and called Bob, and people who are named Bob. Martinez

"and wants to have an affair with her not because of anything he does," I rewatched the episode recently and I'm not sure this is quite right. He did not do anything romantic, but there were cultural misunderstandings that influenced her outlook. He drank wine with her and was complimentary. He said that his wife was "with the ancestors", by which he meant "her parents" but thinking he meant she was dead is not implausible. He also spent time alone with her in his house and was an actor. None of these things really amount to romance, but I think a perfectly average Texan schoolteacher might fantasize it would. As I recall her friend Nancy thought it might.--T. Peggy is a villain?

A quote from this article: "Peggy is the wife of Hank Hill, the mother of Bobby Hill, and a villain." Can anyone explain this? --- Adriun (talk) 06:15, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

That caught My eye too Adriun. I think "villain" might be a strong or innapropriate word to describe Peggy's negative behaviour. I would say that She is more of a Clueless egomaniac, living in a small town that doesn't really care enough to confront Her about it. She can be deliberately cruel. She relates to Bobby in a "I told You so" kind of fashion....but it is more like She is regressing to childish behaviour rather than adult villainy. Villains are wicked persons to the point of murder. Darth Vador is a Villain, Boris Badenoff is a Villain. Maybe Peggy is just a dummy that knows just enough to hang herself. I can see that someone fixed the article and took out the villain bit, though had a laugh that she was still in the "Television supervillains" category. I'm laughing thinking about someone looking up supervillains and coming across "Peggy Hill". --- Adriun (talk) 22:28, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Not a villain. Certainly not a supervillain. More of an archetype for "blowhard frequently laid low when events prove them wrong". Hank tolerates her because he's the world's most undemanding human being, accepting her domestic mediocrity while nodding indulgently at the boasting and ceaseless, unwarranted exceptionalism that defines her personality because he's not really paying attention anyway.
