List of targets
edit- Done
Hi there, I integrated half of the target from this Guardian review into the article. Can someone push further to expand that list ? Yug (talk) 13:29, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- I think the "list" should be classified into countries. Technically, they were not targeted by Pegasus, but by their own governments that had licensed the Pegasus spyware. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 14:54, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Kautilya3: I plan to make it a table "soon", when it reach some correct size (current x 1.5). Yug (talk) 15:16, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Tables can never be a substitute for prose text. They can be used in addition. But in the days to come, we are going to get a lot more detail about why the individuals were targeted and what the fallout has been. None of that will fit into a table. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 15:19, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Table with :
Country, Name, Profession, Comment
will do. Yug (talk) 07:29, 20 July 2021 (UTC) - As of Sept. 2021, current listing seems superior to the minimal table I requested on July 20th. Yug (talk) 🐲 09:29, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Article expansion : coordination
editOk, we spent the past 36h creating a core, this article now has relevant sections which can be easy to expand using emerging news coverage. All areas need to be improve, as usual. Yet the following are more significant that others :
- Analysis and reactions : There is still too few content on the analysis, what is the analysis, impact and what experts and journalist says over this surveillance tool and abuse.
- List of targets : the list can still be expanded. Names will emerge in coming days, context can be added to each case. It's easy to contribute to, and by expanding it we will see emerge meaningful patterns.
- Clients countries : there are about 10 governments, mainly illiberal democracies, which are confirmed as clients and using Pegasus for repressive use. Can we have a short contextualization for each, sourced from the press ? If this is done per country, then it could go in the current "Targets" section, which will have to be renamed.
Help welcome. Yug (talk) 18:22, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Regarding response of govt of India
editThe article states that GoI has denied usage of pegasus, however I was not able to find any sources that a representative of the GoI making such claims. The citation added supported no such claim and I have removed it. I have added a citation needed reference, but I would like to remove the statement all together. May I go ahead with this change? Does anyone have any other sources to corroborate the statement or anything else to say in this matter? --ShellPandey (talk) 10:09, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- I found this that highlight the same issue that the GoI has not issued any response saying that India has not used pegasus. --ShellPandey (talk) 10:12, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Move to The Pegasus Project
editThe name of the investigation is "The Pegasus Project", so the article should be moved to that title. --93.44.108.28 (talk) 14:33, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- I agree. It should be Pegasus Project, because we omit the definite article as per WP:DEFINITE. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 14:55, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Pegasus Project already exists. Maybe Pegasus Project (journalism) or Pegasus Project (surveillance). I think the former is better (journalism). Yug (talk) 15:18, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Ok, let us stick to the current title then. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 15:20, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- I support Pegasus Project (journalism). --93.44.108.28 (talk) 15:24, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

Procedural close. Article has been moved to Project Pegasus (investigation) by Jehochman. (nac by page mover) P.I. Ellsworth ed. put'r there 00:35, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
Project Pegasus (spyware) → Project Pegasus (investigative journalism) – Current name is ambiguous with Pegasus (spyware) and implies that Project Pegasus is name of the malware that is the subject of the investigations.
Proposed name disambiguates more clearly. Melmann 11:32, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- I chose (spyware) because that was the keyword used in the disambiguation page, and also at the ITN nomination. Without too much thinking, this is how people naturally disambiguate. I think (investigative journalism) is too broad and overly verbose. Can we think of something shorter and more specific? Jehochman Talk 12:37, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- How about (investigation). It's concise and declarative. The topic is literally an investigation, the result of investigative journalism. Jehochman Talk 12:40, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support (investigation) per above—blindlynx (talk) 14:00, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support. Project Pegasus (spyware) is misleading and and Project Pegasus (investigative journalism) more accurately describes the matter at hand. --ShellPandey (talk) 13:40, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- I'm going to provisionally move this to (investigation) because that seems to agree with all of the above opinions in spirit. If you feel that it's not quite right, we can continue the discussion. This item is nominated for ITN, which is time sensitive, so I think the benefit of quick resolution outweighs the benefit of waiting longer. Jehochman Talk 15:11, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- Comment: hey folks, there was already a section discussing renaming with 2 votes for Project Pegasus (journalism). Project Pegasus (investigation) is fine too, but please check the talk page and joint existing discussion when you consider renaming. Yug (talk) 16:02, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- Support renaming. Pegasus (spyware) and Project Pegasus (spyware) are ambiguous. This Article is about investigation/journalism, let's use that. Yug (talk) 16:06, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
Incorrect name
edit- Done
The name of the investigation is "Pegasus Project", not "Project Pegasus". Please correct this, thank you! --93.44.108.28 (talk) 09:55, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Reaction section - Propaganda
edit- See Pegasus_Project_(investigation)#National_governments.
- See also Denialism, the rejection of propositions on which a scientific, scholarly or factual consensus exists.
@ShellPandey, Sherenk1, Kautilya3, and MariaLeonice: The section Reactions > National Governments is largely a list of absurd blank denials, aka governmental propaganda, flying to the face of substantial material (computer files) evidences solidly documented right few paragraphs above. I feel uncomfortable leaving governmental propaganda declarations stading alone and uncontradicted. It sounds very unprofessional. I did one test-contextualisation. Wording could be pruned, but we should look for a way to slap and sit those governmental declarations back to their places. Better wordings and alternative tests welcome.
