Suitable cover?

edit

It doesn't have much to do with the story, and does not suggest a far-future Earth. Are there any alternatives? --GwydionM 17:31, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's the cover on my edition, and unless somebody else has a different one I think it's stuck. JBK405 01:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Like everything else in the infobox, the first edition artwork is preferred, so I've gone ahead and added that. But that other image is pretty sweet too (when did we lose the ability to crank out a decent SF book cover?) so I moved it further on down the page. The "Cover Artist" portion of the infobox had been accredited to "Paul Lehr", however I did not know if that was specific to the Fawcett edition... if it is, feel free to add that in the thumb caption. -- Antepenultimate 03:49, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Geriatric euthanasia

edit

Was this the first popular sf work to suggest the idea of the arbitrary euthanisation of the elderly as a societal norm? I'm sure it's where the writer of Logan's Run got the idea...wish I had time to check. Ellsworth 16:40, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Late reply, but ICYMI, Farley Mowat wrote up the Inupiat practice of old people just going off into the winter in bad years. With (perhaps) some encouragement, if hale people & infants were starting to starve. In The Snow Walker (book) (1976) I'm pretty sure. And now I see that he did a revised work, after the movie, in 2014. TIn my experience, for a reread?? --Pete Tillman (talk) 23:06, 14 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Addition of ISBN from Wikidata

edit

Please note that this article's infobox is retrieving an ISBN from Wikidata currently. This is the result of a change made to {{Infobox book}} as a result of this RfC. It would be appreciated if an editor took some time to review this ISBN to ensure it is appropriate for the infobox. If it is not, you could consider either correcting the ISBN on Wikidata (preferred) or introducing a blank ISBN parameter in the infobox to block the retrieval from Wikidata. If you do review the ISBN, please respond here so other editors don't duplicate your work. This is an automated message to address concerns that this change did not show up on watchlists. ~ RobTalk 01:25, 15 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

"the inhabitants are widely frowned upon"

edit

Can you "frown upon" a certain kind of people? It is usually actions that are frowned upon. 2A01:CB0C:CD:D800:19F9:1E6:FC23:4220 (talk) 10:34, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
