Nothing about the discrimination controversy? edit

I know that PB lost it's sponsorship for 1991 PGA tour because of its policies against black people, I came here hoping to find when or if that has changed, but no mention? 67.80.83.53 (talk) 16:55, 21 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Maybe you are referring to this from the Pro-Am article: "In 1991, the private Cypress Point Club was dropped by the PGA Tour because it would not admit an African-American member,...". This was one course used in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am (a rare tournament that uses multiple courses in the same year). Appropriate for that article, not for this one. "Par 3" Picture edit

I may be wrong, but that picture does not look like a hole at Pebble Beach. Could someone please give some kind of proof, and the actual number hole it is, either the 7th or 17th?
Grover 05:59, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Judging by the lead image, I think you can eliminate the 17th hole as an option. It shows a steep drop into the ocean for the 17th green, while the "Par 3" picture seems to slope gradually into the ocean. --Tewy 06:16, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I've contacted the uploader for further explanation. --Tewy 06:21, 9 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're definately right there, and from the pictures i've seen of the 7th hole there, I don't think its that either. But again, I may be wrong.Grover 00:42, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I'm pretty sure i've found this hole on google earth, it's actually a hole on Monterey Peninsula Country Club. Whilst it is a golf course in pebble beach, it doesnt belong in this article. Grover 07:44, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hi there. I took the photo, but it was a few years ago, and I don't recall which course it was, never mind which hole (I wasn't playing golf, just driving around California). It was taken from the edge of the road, and I liked how the hole was practically in the Pacific! Is there an overhead map of all the Pebble Beach courses? I might be able to identify it from that. — Nicholas (reply) @ 20:42, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
From a simple Google search, I found this, but I'm sure there are others you could go off of, such as the satellite image, also from Google. --Tewy 21:02, 10 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I searched for this hole, and i think i found it here. Its part of the Monterey Peninsula Golf Club. Grover 07:48, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I had noticed this once before, and even found the right hole using Google Maps, but completely forgot to come back to it. A bit more research finds that it's the 14th hole on the Dunes Course at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club (like you said). There's another picture here, partway down the page. I updated the image's description on commons. Carl Lindberg 04:34, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

As a caddie at Pebble Beach Golf Links I can assure you that this is a photo of #7 on the course. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.234.17.202 (talk) 03:42, 2 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Article Improvements edit

I've expanded the article significantly and, as a result, removed the stub tag and upgraded the article's quality to Start class. However, I've only just joined WP:GOLF and am perfectly happy to have these ratings reversed or altered by others. SJS1971 16:28, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

"Pebble Beach is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful courses in the world" edit

Maybe, if the National Geographic reference is used. OK IMO if this source is used, a vote, not one person's opinion. https://www.pga.com/golf-courses/courses-feature/worlds-most-beautiful-courses. Sorry, i don't know how to fix footnotes. Mattman944 (talk) 00:59, 25 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Course Changes for 2010 US Open edit

Golf Channel is reporting that there are significant changes for the 2010 US Open that affects the scorecard. Holes 9, 10, and 13 are lengthened http://www.thegolfchannel.com/core.aspx?page=15100&select=28227. Also, #2 does not play as a par 5 for the US Open, but a par 4. It also did in 2000. Maybe a separate U.S. Open scorecard is in order

Pebble Beach agrees to not build new course edit

The controversy section should be updated. The coastal commission actually denied the request that was slated to be reviewed June 13, 2007. The next day, the LA Times reported this: http://travel.latimes.com/articles/la-trw-pebblebeach14jun14

Then earlier this year, the commission and the Pebble Beach Co agreed to a new plan that does not included a new golf course http://www.golfdigest.com/golf-courses/blogs/golf-real-estate/new-course Kewe65 (talk) 23:11, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Correction declined - Don't know how you got there, but have tried coords in several different mappers and they appear to be correct. Please check again and repost with more details of exactly what you're doing if you still have a problem. Regards, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 16:24, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
