Jackin' Pop edit

Idolator.com reacted to Christgau's dismissal from VV by creating its own "Jackin' Pop" poll, run by Michelangelo Matos, along pretty much the same principles as Pazz & Jop, and apparently drawing a comparable number of respondents. See [1], also [2] for the 2006 poll results. Christgau submitted to both, which is what he encourages others to do. Probably worth mentioning here, because it is at least a significant "fork" of Pazz & Jop. - Jmabel | Talk 07:33, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is Pazz & Jop dead? edit

The Village Voice has stopped publishing. So far I haven't seen any official announcement or other comments on the future of Pazz & Jop. Christgau got close to commenting on Twitter, but there's nothing definitive yet. It's possible that another publication will pick up the torch, but if we get to January 2019 and there's no new P&J I think it can be presumed dead. —BLZ · talk 19:49, 3 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Several music critics have tweeted about missing Pazz & Jop, since ballots would usually be circulating this time of year; Stephen Thomas Erlewine tweeted that Uproxx "is attempting to pick up where Pazz & Jop left off by launching their first Music Critics Poll." With that, it's safe to say P&J died with the Village Voice. —BLZ · talk 09:17, 7 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Shouts out to Doc Strange for catching Christgau’s tweet, which I just saw. Apparently P&J lives on, somehow, and even remains a VV project. —BLZ · talk 17:39, 20 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
