Editing out misconception re Papal rule

In the phrase "... the Pope becomes the effective secular, as well as spiritual, ruler over Europe (a development with no parallel in the actual history of Catholic countries)." (emphasis added), I have deleted the parenthetical "a development with no parallel in the actual history of Catholic countries".

This statement is entirely wrong. From the Donation of Pepin in 756CE to the Italian Unification (1860s-1870s), the Papacy fully exercised secular rule over those territories in Italy known as The Papal States. Indeed, though these territories are now reduced to the 0.44 km² of Vatican City (and much reduced in sovereignty, as well), the Papacy still exercises secular rule there.

The article should stand as currently written

Because it is fiction. The best kind of science fiction is speculative fiction. Not all Science Fiction is speculative, just as all violets are pansies but not all pansies are violets.

Because this story and the other stories described are alternate universe fiction, there can not be any reliable sources until students and scholars begin writing papers on the subjects covered and publish them as serious work, which may be never. On the other hand, such papers have been written about Blade Runner and Star Trek and the Terminator series. Therefore, keep this page as is for at least 20 years or until universities begin teaching and publishing papers on the subject of a Catholic England and alternate New World. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.113.49.126 (talk) 04:21, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

The venue is relevant for illustrating this novel, but could we use a different image? The current one, "Renown", is a showman's engine but File:Boadicea traction engine Great Dorset Steam Fair.jpg is a traction engine, like "Lady Margaret".
