Name Discussion

edit

"...(born Paula Brooking on February 23rd, 1963..."

"...under her real name, Alaura O'Dell, "

Well? Which is it?

I think she was born Paula Brooking, and then took the married name Paula P-Orridge. Some of her later work with Psychic TV and Genesis seems to be credited to Alaura P-Orridge (for example "At Stockholm" CD from 1990). I'm afraid I don't know where O'Dell originates from, or what "real" means in this context. John Eden 13:14, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup and verification

edit

I have edited this article to remove what I believe to be the worst of the unsourced and unverifiable material, as well as the advert for the subject's web sites. A reliable source, AllMusic Guide, does not list Paula P-Orridge as a member of either Throbbing Gristle or Psychic TV. I also added the {{not verified}} tag, hoping that editors more familiar with this material can provide sources for the material, or failing that, remove it as well. This article survived an AfD on the basis of the subject being a member of one or more notable bands; if that was not in fact the case, then I think a second AfD is probably in order. Paula/Alaura was not a member of Throbbing Gristle. She WAS a member of Psychic TV, appearing in their videos (Godstar, for example). She is interviewed as a member of Psychic TV in the book Tape Delay, by Charles Neal (published by SAF) and contributed sleevenotes to the PTV LP Live in Toronto, if memory serves, as well as being listed as a member of the group on the sleeves of most of the albums. Just as a side note... if you look at any Psychic TV releae that was put out Before the divorce you will see her name credited as a band member. It has been only since her divorce from GPo that her name has been left off on re-releases. See discogs.Theebradmiller (talk) 21:38, 15 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, I have added as many citations as I could find to verify this article. The contributions from John Eden and Theebradmiller are correct, Paula was a member of Psychic TV, not Throbbing Gristle, and you can see her featured in many of PTV's film clips prior to her divorce from Genesis P-Orridge. However since she divorced Genesis, re-released PTV records she was involved in have not credited her as being a band member. I hope my citations have helped to add validity to the article. Not dead

edit

Paula P-Orridge (Alaura O'Dell) is not dead. It was Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge, Genesis P-Orridge's current partner, who died unexpectedly on October 9. They are not the same person. See [1]. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MCB (talkcontribs) 21:36, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Justin Beck she worked with on ambient techno projects off and on since her PTV days is NOT the Justin Beck of Glassjaw, but Justin Beck owner of Sanctioned Records, an electronica artist from the Bay Area and environmentalist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Justindr660@hotmail.com (talkcontribs) 09:59, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
