Editing "Paul Sepuya" - Adding Information edit

I am thinking of adding a photo of him to the page. Other sections that can be added are biography and pieces of his work. I think his introduction can be expanded as well because it is only a few sentences. There is also not much information on his early life and education. In this section, I think it would be important to talk about his inspirations. It would also be nice to add an awards section, if he ever won anything for his work. Some relevant articles showing his work are:

Adding a photo of the artist is a great way to make the article page feel more complete. I will add the photo in. Mmurphy36 (talk) 05:55, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edits made to article edit

In the introduction of the article, I added sentences that explain Sepuya's work in more depth. Readers now learn about how Sepuya uses his friends as muses in his photography. I explained how he uses different body parts on purpose to create a feeling of yearning in the viewer and how this in turn allows viewers to really connect to the art through the medium of photography. I also explained portraiture, which is his main form of art. This is an important detail for readers so that they know what type of artist Sepuya is and what he prioritizes as important in order for viewers to connect with his work. (Added citations 1 and 2)

I also added the names of multiple exhibits where his work is displayed in the body of the article (citation 11). This is important for readers because they will know where they can go if they want to see his display of work. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ssahay2 (talkcontribs) 02:20, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Ssahay2's Peer Review edit

Lead:

Based on the lead, I get a good overall feel for what the article will include. The information regarding his artistic style and what it conveys from his viewers is great. However, it may be more suitable to include this somewhere in his “Career” section or possibly create a new section that solely discusses his style. Overall, the lead is good.

Structure:

The two current sections are in a good order. As I previously mentioned, it may be beneficial to add a “Style” section. I think it would best fit between “Early Life” and “Career.” In this section, you could mention the style in which this artist’s photography would fall under. Additionally, you could then transfer all of the information from the lead that discusses his personal style and “feel” to complete this new section.

Balance:

In terms of section balance, the “Early Life and Education” section could be added to. There isn’t much information regarding his family or childhood, so any extra information that could be added would make a significant difference.

Neutral Content:

The article is balanced in terms of bias. There isn’t any part of the article in which one particular view is favored.

Reliable Sources:

Of the sources I could access, they seemed to be reliable and unbiased. There were a few reference links that were expired.

Summary:

Overall, this article is coming along well. A few minor adjustments could significantly improve the article. It is encyclopedic as it should be and does a good job of explaining who Paul Sepuya is. --MichaelSegura (talk) 23:57, 8 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Andre's Peer Review edit

Lead: The lead is clear and gives an idea of what the article will be addressing. The first few sentences give a brief understanding about the artist which allows readers to grasp what will be talked about in the article.

Structure: Structure is good. The table of contents really helps with organization even if the article does not cover much.

Balance: The balance of the article is okay so far. If possible, maybe the "early life section" can talk about what inspired Paul Sepuya to become a photographer focusing on portraiture, which I understand is information that can be difficult to obtain. Also, I was hoping there would be a section on how HIV/AIDS may have impacted Paul Sepuya's style/art.

Neutral Content: The content is neutral. I did not see any issues with this.

Reliable Sources: The sources you have added during your edit reliable.

Summary: Overall, I think the article is in good condition. It's still in it's early stages, as in it is minimal with information, but understandable since the artist is still alive, making it difficult to create an article about him. A section about how HIV/AIDS has impacted Sepuya's art may be a nice addition to this article. Studentandre (talk) 00:29, 10 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Ways to Improve Article Page edit

Overall the content of the article page is coming along. The page is still in its infancy and needs improvements.

The following would be examples to improve the page:
- Include picture of artist
- "Critical Reception" section to highlight commentary, critiques, and awards that given to or are about the artist's work.
- Incorporating the use of social media by the artist
- List work that has been displayed in galleries/institutions [1]
- Add more content to the "Style" section on the article's page
- Add in Artist's social media profiles in External Links

Peer Review of Mmurphy36 edit

The citation links all work, but instead of adding #17, #16 could be reused since they are the same source. The added information should be paraphrased rather than relying on direct quotes. The sources, The Brooklyn Rail and The Nation, may not need to be mentioned in the text because they are in the citation section. Article Suggestions for Paul Mpagi Sepuya edit

The Paul Mpagi Sepuya article is lacking in images and would greatly benefit if a picture of the artist was added. Also it would be beneficial if some of his art pieces were included. Adding more about Paul Mpagi Sepuya early life can also help the article become well rounded.Eliza97 (talk) 17:44, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Peer Review (Mmurphy36) edit

I thought the article was well organized and straight to the point. Like someone had suggested before, maybe more information can be added from his website, so maybe more information can be elaborated with more details. Although I would like to see some examples of his work on the article page, I also know how hard it is to be able to find images that you can post onto the page without violating any copyrights.
