Alumni

How about adding Jeremy Bowen, the BBC Middle East Editor?

Sure, I'll add it. There should be no problem with adding people who already have articles. - BanyanTree 17:30, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

I have removed the following items from the alumni list. I'm not clear on why some of these are notable and an article section composed of redlinks is an eyesore in any case. The items are below. Please readd them if the links ever get filled in.

Thanks, BanyanTree 17:47, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

The user BayanTree seems to have reverted the page. Please read and respect the related Wikipedia policy as your reversions might not be justified (and therefore, constitute a type of vandalism (Blanking) as per Wikipedia:Vandalism. If you want to improve the page, please do so without destroying other user's contributions. Take a look at Help:Reverting to know when you should actually revert changes. For example, if you feel is better to alphabetize by last name, do so without destroying the new names on the alumni list. Thanks!

When to revert See also Wikipedia policy should follow the spirit of ahimsa Reverting is a decision which should be taken seriously. Reverting is used primarily for fighting vandalism, or anything very similar to the effects of vandalism. If you are not sure whether a revert is appropriate, discuss it first rather than immediately reverting or deleting it. If you feel the edit is unsatisfactory, improve it rather than simply reverting or deleting it.

Do not revert changes simply because someone makes an edit you consider problematic, biased, or inaccurate. Improve the edit, rather than reverting it. International1 13:35, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

I've moved your post from the top of the page. Sorry about the mass revert - you had made so many small edits that I hadn't noticed the addition of the paragraphs, bolding of key selling points and the description as a "global school". I admit to being curious. You have less than 50 edits on Wikipedia (all to SAIS or SAIS-related people) and don't know that new posts go on the bottom of the page or that single-line breaks in markup don't have any effect in view mode, but are quoting, or attempting to quote, some detailed policy.
The list of names has been alphabetized by last name since it was first added to the article. I don't recall any mature list on the wiki that goes by first name, nor would I assume that one thinks of professors by first name. I assume that you know if any new entries got lost when I pasted in the old list. Please add them in, as this would be far less time intensive that checking item by item. - BanyanTree 14:28, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. It makes sense, I just added one entry that got lost. International1 14:32, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Nanjing.jpg

Image:Nanjing.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:30, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:JHU seal.png

The image Image:JHU seal.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.
