Stub
edit"Bocuse has made many contributions to French gastronomy both directly and indirectly." As did Einstein to physics. He's very notable, but shouldn't this be tagged as a stub right now?KD Tries Again (talk) 03:30, 25 July 2008 (UTC)KD Tries Again

born 11 February
editMANY other sources say he was born on the 11th. Was he now born 11th or 12th? Where did the 12th come from? 85.197.19.140 (talk) 07:11, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
Death
editCan we get a source on Bocuse's death before making changes to the article? There are rumors circulating around twitter and facebook, but nothing as of yet from a legitimate news source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.139.207.2 (talk) 02:33, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
I am finding nothing on this, aside from the fact that twitter went absolutely nuts about it. I am currently monitoring Le Monde, Le Parisien, and Google News, and I am not seeing *anything* about this. I am pretty sure it is a hoax, but cannot find anything in either direction. Until there is a confirmation, and you can link to news coverage, please do not a date of death. People are citing this article as possible proof of death, and that is just gonna go all ouroboros on us.. (takes admin hat off). Thanks, all. --Thespian (talk) 02:50, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

- This does not appear to be a reliable source. It appears to be a wiki-style page, actually, considering the similarity to the web address of English Wikipedia. --McDoobAU93 04:40, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- Latest information I've seen comes from a food writer who's spoken to the restaurant: https://twitter.com/ElizabethOnFood/status/209586055932948480 "Paul Bocuse is alive and well, I've spoken with the restaurant. They're very unhappy about the rumours on Twitter about his death. pls RT" gothick (talk) 10:26, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
More hoax confirmation here: http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/news/dont-believe-twitter-rumors-french-chef-paul-bocuse-110602928.html - please note that it actually mentions that Wikipedia was listing his death. Folks, this is why we do not change things like this without confirmation from actual news sources...Wikipedia now looks like it contributed to the rumours and speculation, even though I changed it back repeatedly last night. This is a minor case, but keep it in mind in the future. --Thespian (talk) 14:44, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
With much of the article still being in past tense, it still reads as if Bocuse has passed, even without a death date. 'he WAS famous...' 'he WAS one of the most prominent chefs...' I noticed this while in a rush, so I don't have time to go through and fix each instance, but if someone else could it'd be appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.18.176.33 (talk) 20:43, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
- Done I think I've fixed all the appropriate references. Someone please double-check and see if I missed any, or if I changed something that should remain in past tense. --McDoobAU93 21:34, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

French proper nouns beginning with L
editHe also operated a chain of brasseries in Lyon, named Le Nord, l'Est, Le Sud and l'Ouest,
Is it not:
L'est, or L'Est
I found both on the Internet, the placards on the rezzies say, e.g. LE NORD.
Darcourse (talk) 06:46, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
- You're right; it's inconsistent to write l'Est and l'Auberge but not le Nord (none of these cases is found at the beginning of a sentence) and instead Le Nord, so I don't think there's a rule that French proper nouns beginning with articles should be uncapitalised (at least in an English language context), and I cannot think of a reason why l' should be treated any differently from le. I've changed all these lower case Ls to upper case. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 19:17, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
