Opinion

"Bettany's next major project would make his talent undoubtable:..."  ??? This sounds like an opinion. This whole article has a poetic kind of memior fragrance... not like an encyclopedic entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.19.14.26 (talk)

Just FYI JARVIS in the film is an AI computer meaning "Just A Rather Very Intelligent System". See Iron Man (film)#Cast. Please don't change it. Thanks. ReelAngelGirl Talk to me! Tea? 19:17, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 03:34, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

US citizenship

Paul Bettany said on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on 25 July 2017 that he'd become a US citizen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.93.233.246 (talk) 04:13, 27 July 2017 (UTC)

I agree. Kay girl 97 (talk) 04:36, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
I'm sure 61.93.233.246 will be pleased to hear that you agree that Bettany said that in 2017, after all, they've been waiting nearly two years for someone to reply  . Was there something in particular which you thought the article ought to say about this, other than what it already says: "Citizenship: United Kingdom and United States of America"? I notice you added English-American actor, with a command that nobody should change it without an explanation (that's not really very collegial). I've always found that sort of phrasing a bit awkward and clunky, looking as though people are trying to shoehorn in a 'claim' to people in a jingoistic sort of way - a little distasteful even, but I don't feel strongly enough to alter it, and I'm a bit scared of what you might do to me if I did, and you didn't like my explanation...   -- Begoon 05:31, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
Actually, after looking at your edit summary again, if I did want to change it would it help if I put an exclamation mark in my comment and said "Do not" somewhere? I mean, obviously all capital letters would be just too much, but I'm just trying to get a feel for the parameters here... -- Begoon 05:39, 23 May 2019 (UTC)
I just don't like people deleting it without a legit reason why. He says he has dual citizenship, so it should be correct.Kay girl 97 (talk) 14:11, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

Johnny Depp texts

@Emir of Wikipedia: This probably should have been brought to the talk page earlier, as we've been back and forth quite a bit on it. Regarding your recent edit: I think that sentence is necessary. A reader should not have to open the references to understand what is being mentioned (in this case, why the texts were relevant to the trial), which would be necessary with your removal of that sentence. I don't agree that it's aggressive, but do you have a suggestion on how it could be reworded? Abbyjjjj96 (talk) 17:47, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

I did not mean the text you included was aggressive, but the amount I removed following your revert of my earlier removal. A rewording suggestion for the whole paragraph follows, obviously with the sources already in the article right now. Alleged text messages between Bettany and his friend, Johnny Depp, were used as evidence against Depp of him abusing his wife Amber Heard in his defamation trial, Depp v News Group Newspapers Ltd, against The Sun for calling him a "wifebeater" in a 2018 article. Bettany defended Depp from these accusations. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 17:53, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
