Do we need to revdel?

edit

{{adminhelp}}

I just wiped out about five years of editing history from this article, after discovering that it was substantially a close paraphrase (the editor changed the pronouns and scrambled the paragraph order) from this Jamaica Observer piece (written five months prior to the edit that added the content to this article).

Considering the scope of the coptvio, do we need to have those five years' worth of editing revision deleted? Sven Manguard Wha? 21:40, 7 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

The appropriate piece is at Wikipedia:Copyright_problems#Suspected_or_complicated_infringement - which suggests that after reverting, one can leave it there, unless the copyright holder requests removal.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:14, 7 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • "he instead went to into teaching." - extra word here.
  • "After over a decade in education, Allen ..." - this is rather an odd way of expressing it, being rather different in meaning to "After a decade in full-time education, B left with no qualifications"!
  • "In 2005, he was elected to a second five-year term." - I assume this refers to the second of the two offices mentioned in the previous sentence?
  • "In July 2008, then Governor-General of Jamaica Sir Kenneth O. Hall indicated that he wished to step down due to declining health." - Some commas needed.
  • Did Allen respond to the controversy generated by his appointment?
  • The article contains no images. Are there any available?
  • The user who nominated this article at GAN has gone on an extended wikibreak, and despite my sending him an email, has not edited for ten weeks, so I have made the suggested minor changes to the article myself. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:19, 15 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

GA criteria

edit
  • The article is well written and complies with MOS guidelines on prose and grammar, structure and layout.
  • The article uses a number of reliable third-party sources, and makes frequent citations to them. I do not believe it contains original research.
  • The article covers the main aspects of the subject and remains focussed.
  • The article is neutral.
  • Copyright violations were removed in April 2014 and the article was rewritten by the nominator. It is stable.
  • It is a pity that no appropriately licensed image of Patrick Allen is available.
