1900 Olympics the "third"?

The section about the 1900 Olympic games says they are the "games of the II Olympiad", but goes on to say the third games. Explain! The article very confusingly refers to the 1906 games as affecting the numbering of the 1900 games, which is baloney. Last I knew, 1906 is six years after 1900! Any reference to the 1906 games should only pertain to 1908 onward (therefore, in Paris, the 1924 games). GBC (talk) 16:34, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Rationale for move

I've just added a hatnote pointing to the current Olympic Games and left the following edit summary: I suspect that the vast majority of readers ending up here were in fact looking for the current Olympics, hence we should at least have a hatnote, if not move this page and have the current title redirect to the current show. Looking into it a bit further, I find the following:

• the page has huge page views and they have steadily been going up over the last few days,
• there aren't too many pages linking here but all the pages that I've looked at tried to link to the current Olympics

Hence, I'm even more certain now that "Paris Olympics" should be a redirect pointing to the current Games. I will therefore move this page. I'm unsure what the best title is, so feel free to discuss different titles or move this further. I will have very little availability over the next week, so if you ping me, don't expect a rapid response. Schwede66 23:43, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
