Etymology of Pangasianodon
editI have been looking at the etymology of the generic name; Pangas- comes from the Bengali panga meaning bow-legged or bow-form, hence Pangasian- as related to Pangasius, and -odon stems from the Greek for tooth. However the Mekong giant catfish doesn't possess any teeth. Can anyone point to a reference as to whether this is also true for P. hypophthalmus? Or to a reference explaining the derivation of the genus name?Skullcinema (talk) 15:30, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
