Pana and Amdo town

The article states that Pana is "just outside" Amdo town. The coordinates proveded for them respectively are Pana: 32.2625, 91.678333 and Amdo town; 32.263889, 91.680556, or about 200m apart with nothing but continuous residential area between them. I suspect that this is an error, and both are alternative names for the same place. Our only reference that they are separate places is Google Maps, which does render "PANAZHEN" (ie Pana town) at some zoom levels, but I suspect that they received two names for the same town with slightly different coordinates from different sources, and added them as two different places in error. I would like to see my suspicions confirmed or denied. Additionally over at OSM the Amdo node was recently edited, to change it's name to Pana, based on GNS data. I am editing the node on OSM back to use Amdo based on my above concerns. --Keithonearth (talk) 20:55, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

I'd like to add on to my last comment, and list some of the info I have found in the paper maps I have on hand, the following lists the publisher and how the down at the location of Pana/Amdo is labelled on the maps. Many maps list alternative names.

I do not think that there is anything here to definitively state that the two Pana and Amdo are definitively the same place, but at the least we can say that "帕那镇" is either a mistaken translation of Pana (as the article lists it as the Chinese name for Pana at present) or they are the same place. The article linked to on zh.wikipedia.org lists the name as 措玛乡, so something is not right here. 措玛乡 is pronounced "Cuòmǎ xiāng" (or Cuòmǎ village). The coordinates given by the zh.wiki article differ from the en.wiki article on Pana by about 25km. There seems to be multiple issues here. None of my maps list a place by the name that sounds like "Pana" in Latin, Chinese, or Tibetan alphabets in either location.

At least we can see from my list above that Amdo is a more used and important name than Pana. My Chinese reading skills are nearly non-existent, so maybe someone with more knowledge can help out. Keithonearth (talk) 16:55, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
