Contested deletion edit

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because the author, probably a new editor, simply has to paraphrase the earlier text and add additional text from other sources. It is clear they are attempting to write a quality article with the addition of a nicely done Infobox. Please don't bite the newbies. There is no need to rush to delete. --Jax MN (talk) 21:05, 28 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion edit

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because it is content that would supplement the efforts of the Fraternities and Sororities Project to build an accurate and comprehensive record of greek groups. There were necessary citations missing that were flagged for my attention and as a new user my understanding of the sufficient burden of evidence was not clearly recognized; I am seeking to correct this and educate myself. It is my hope that this content be recognized as a valid and valuable contribution to the community and its projects. --User:jrsuchin 26:30, 28 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Which picture should be used for the infobox image?

  • A new-ish editor posted version B of the crest themselves, for use on the Pan Sophic page while it was still a draft, noting it to be their own art. While that may be true, I found that image to have too dark of a background. I went to an historical source, found a good image, and after cropping and resizing it smaller I then color corrected to ensure a white(er) background. I then uploaded it using the standard carve-out we use for a non-free image, as this is the official logo or insignia of the group, for identification purposes. My uploaded version with this metadata is version A, noted above. It's fine to leave this, and let the version B of the file lapse. Jax MN (talk) 00:32, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • There are stylistic differences between the two, especially with the dragon at top. If the group has a preference, I certainly could switch these, and at the same time, color correct Option B prior to posting. Comments? Jax MN (talk) 00:36, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
      • That sounds like a good idea to me. I uploaded option B from Pan Sophic's website, so I think that is likely their most current logo. ––FormalDude talk 01:36, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
        • @Jax MN: I've color corrected Option B. ––FormalDude talk 01:40, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
          • OK, the images are switched. I'll let the one I uploaded lapse. Dunno if that is a dragon, or some kind of griffon, or something else. The head reminds me of one of my (rather noble looking) Great Danes. With wings, of course. But as that is the one they currently use, it's fine with me. The image I'd offered was from a historical collection of college and town images from 1910-1920. Subjective choice. I don't have a, er, dog in the fight. Thanks, Jax MN. Since the other image is now deleted, I'll close this RfC. ––FormalDude talk 04:23, 3 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
