Puerto Rico

I just noticed that PR was addewd to the nations list. Is this true that it is its onw nation, or does it participate under the U.S.? --Jared [T]/[+] 13:06, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Well, considering it is listed on its own in the medals table, I would say they go on their own. Mariano(t/c) 13:39, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
I see...I didn't think to look there. Thanks. --Jared [T]/[+] 20:08, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Naming convention

I'm a little surprised to see so little talk page activity here, but this seems a natural place to ask. Someone I've been keeping an eye on has changed all instances of 2007 Pan American Games to 2007 Panamerican Games. Has the exact wording ever been discussed anywhere? They changed that page, and almost every page linking to it, so I don't want to go to the trouble of reverting them if it turns out they might be right. But I've never seen it that way before. Has this been discussed before? In any case, am I correct that the proper name is Pan American Games, not Panamerican Games? --barneca (talk) 19:03, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

I have never seen these Games listed as "Panamerican". Spend 60 seconds with Google and you'll see the same thing. My guess is that the other editor might not be a native English speaker, and is using his/her translation of the Spanish "Panamericanos", perhaps. Feel free to boldly move those pages back, and if this turns into a dispute, let me know. I don't think any discussion is required here; every verifiable English language source you're likely to find agrees on "Pan American". — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 20:11, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
For reasons I won't go into, it was better that I not do the actual reverting myself. Someone has reverted to the old naming convention already. Thanks for confirming my belief. --barneca (talk) 21:51, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
That was me. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 22:10, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Then thank you again. --barneca (talk) 22:25, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

2012 Pan American Junior Open International Taekwondo Championships

The Pan American Taekwondo Union (PATU) is hosting an event this month (May 2012) in Portland, Oregon. They are calling it: 2012 Pan American Junior Open International Taekwondo Championships. I was wondering how the PATU and this championship are related to the Pan American Games (if at all). -ErinHowarth (talk) 18:07, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Where does it say that the U.S. Virgin Islands will be called American Virgin Islands?

I'm wondering were the source says that the U.S. Virgin Islands will be called the American Virgin Islands starting from 2019 and why not just used the official name of U.S. Virgin Islands? They do it in other international competition such as Miss Universe I think. -- Sion8 (talk) 01:15, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Bids for the Pan American Games Page

Should there be a page to know which cities tried to earn the rights to host the Pan American Games? It would be a great opportunity to know which cities tried or are attempting to bid for the games. mpolidoro1128 (talk) 3 March 2016 (EST 11:24am) —Preceding undated comment added 16:24, 3 March 2016 (UTC)
