Pronounciation

Something seems to be wrong about my trying to make a contribution to "Talk" about Palmiro Togliatti. Some miraculous hand wipes out whatever I try to write. I do not hesitate to try it again, the fifth time now. Maybe the reason is, that only fluent English is accepted and I have to confess, that my English is very poor. Be that as it may. As I find, the phrase "In exile during the 1930s..." is hiding more than it reveals, because nothing is said about the place of the exile and Togliatti's occupation during the time of exile. So, please, as a user of Wikipedia in Germany, allow me to propose that one of the English speaking authors of the article add some words, giving at least the minimum of necessary information, i.e. exile in Moscow, performing the function of a member of the secretariat of Comintern's Executive Committee from 1935 until 1943; from July 1937 until the end of the Spanish Civil War: a representative of the Comintern in Spain. --Ulula 20:11, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Attempt on Togliatti's life

I don't see the need for a separate article on the assassination attempt — why can't it be made part of this article? I've taken out the link to this not-yet-existing article in the main text; but I'll reserve judgement until whoever intends to write this article does so. --Sam Francis

The assassination attempt against Togliatti and its aftermath are a turning point in post-war history in Italy. It is the end of the PCI's "doppio binario" (i.e. the double option kept open by the PCI - playing the democratic/parliamentary game and preparing the "revolution"). Togliatti, from his hospital bed, called for the end of the insurrection which had already started in several cities. There were scores of dead in violent clashes between communist demonstrators and the police.

This article is poorly written. The English is despicable, and it contains (as most articles on Italian contemporary history on English Wikipedia) many unsourced personal opinions, of a leftist nature, written by the same person. (Giordaano)

Of a leftist nature?? I'd rather say the opposite with relation to the "Overview". Togliatti's "crimes"? Which crimes? Was he tried in Court and found guilty? A Wikipedia editor should not allow his own personal views interfering in his/her rendition of the story. The word "crimes" is unacceptable here, whatever one may think of the individual in question. That aside, I agree that the article is poorly writen, poorly researched and not very well written. But then... "Crimes"

Whatever the nature of Togliatti's machinations in the Soviet Union, it is not appropriate English encyclopedic parlance to repeatedly use the word "crimes" to describe something he was never indicted or convicted for. The entire "Overview" section is of dubious value to the article and appears to be sourced mainly to political web publications and private sites; I am tempted to remove it entirely unless it can be seriously improved. 80.221.34.183 (talk) 19:06, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Allegations of murder

Togliatti cause of death is at least suspicious. These are some of the most obscure facts about his death:

- Instant death in suspicious circumstances to an otherwise reasonable healthy person

- No post-mortem

- No death certificate

- Removal of body immediately without any photographs taken

- The presence of the Russian Ambassador for Italy in Artek at the time of death

- The Ambassador personally accompanying the body to Moscow and then to Italy

- No medical autopsy/forensic tests carried out in Italy

- Immediate burial at 18.00pm on 25th August 1964
