Edit. Nimble America was only attempted by him and was quickly shot down by the already thriving community. He in no way funded internet trolls. He may have tried but the community was off put by the premise. The subreddit called /r/the_donald was already one of the most active and subscribed subreddits long before this charity was even started. Here is a breakdown of exactly what happened. https://www.reddit.com/r/The_Donald/comments/5460xn/nice_try_media_our_community_cannot_be_bought/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.150.169.96 (talk) 18:14, 23 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Palmer Luckey is worth over half a billion dollars. He does not live with roommates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HashtagWOKE (talkcontribs) 21:43, 23 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

The source for living with roommates is a January 19, 2015 article from the Forbes website[1], stating that Luckey "lives with seven friends (all but one of them Oculus employees) in a shared house in tony Atherton he calls “The Commune,” where they spend hours playing massive multiplayer tournaments of videogames like Super Smash Bros." -- 1Wiki8........................... Nimble America edit

The now section on "Political activities" is way undue weight as of right now in scale with his history. Much of the primary source commentary needs to be scaled down in favor of secondary sources (that is, journalists writing about other reports rather than citing The Daily Beast and journalist opinions directly). I think it would be useful to collect the most important sources on the talk page rather than letting them get lost in the page history. Summaries of the industry reactions and fallout from the incident are most appropriate for whatever will ultimately remain in the article.   czar 06:07, 24 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it has to go. All disputed [2]. --DHeyward (talk) 12:20, 25 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
The donation is not disputed. To quote the article subject: "I contributed $10,000 to Nimble America". The reaction and commentary on the contribution, as shown in independent reliable sources, is also not disputed. -- 1Wiki8........................... (talk) 18:06, 25 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Can I just state, here in probably the least proper place for this since my time is valuable, I am a blog author who likes to use the valuable service you provide here at wiki, not a wiki editor in my own right - that it is increasingly and already incredibly annoying that any time there is any sort of noteworthy event, for months and months after the fact, I have to come to the talk page every single darn time to learn anything about it? Seriously. The only think you people do right any more is world war 2 or sonic the hedgehog articles. The web is an increasingly politically polar place, and we rely increasingly on wiki to get actual pertinent facts with as little in the way of personal editorializing as possible. I love what you do. I am not trying to knock everything you do right. But between what happened on this page and your deleting swaths of pertinent but politically sensitive information from science pages of all things - a gripe I will save for another time - I am struggling with the fact that I will have to find something to replace you. I know it doesn't matter to you lot as editors but I donate money regularly to the wiki and am very disappointed with the service I have been receiving these last few years in return. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.95.133.111 (talk) 02:06, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
And THAT said, thank you very much 1Wiki8 and DHeyward for leaving links to primary sources here in the talk page, at least coming here still works. I really hope I have even this fallback for at least a few years yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.95.133.111 (talk) 02:08, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

removed section edit

Here is the section that was recently removed from this article:

Discuss... -- 1Wiki8........................... (talk) 18:08, 25 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

User:DHeyward seems to think it is not good to discuss the actual text that they removed.[3]. I disagree, as collaborative editing is always best, and this talk page is a very good place to do it. -- 1Wiki8........................... (talk) 07:38, 28 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Diffs are fine. Repeating BLP violations anywhere on WP is not. --DHeyward (talk) 22:30, 28 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

political views edit

For the section on Mr. Luckey's political views, he stated in a facebook posting: "I am a libertarian who has publicly supported Ron Paul and Gary Johnson in the past, and I plan on voting for Gary in this election as well." Primary source:[4] Independent sources:[5][6]. -- 1Wiki8........................... (talk) 09:13, 28 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Updated net worth? edit

This article says Luckey's net worth was $730 million in 2016. I've been looking for newer sources for this. I've found two conflicting sources (neither of which look very credible).

  • This site claims that his net worth is $1 billion in April 2020.
  • This site claims that his net worth was $400 million in January 2020.

How credible are these sources? Does this justify updating the net worth on this article? SebastianTalk | Contrib. - 23:19, 8 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Neither of them are credible, see the related CelebrityNetWorth (RSP entry) Hemiauchenia (talk) 22:51, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Huge gaps in history, bizarre structure edit

The structure of this article is bizarre and makes more sense as a corporate history than a Biography of a Living Person. The "Oculus VR" section of his career is almost entirely about things he did prior to Oculus VR, only the last sentence is about something that happened after their Kickstarter campaign. The entire "Facebook" section that covers his time as a Facebook executive has only two sections, one detailing a lawsuit that ended in early 2017 and another for his firing later in 2017. The result is a nearly five-year gap, with practically no information about anything that happened between mid-2012 and mid-2017 when he founded Anduril. 2600:1700:5970:8800:A508:7B21:529A:CC20 (talk) 00:44, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Did Palmer Luckey write this article? edit

Overall tone is of himself talking about what a great guy he is, including inane childish shit like his cool gaming pc. The tone is completely inappropriate and makes me think npov problem. 86.16.183.159 (talk) 09:02, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

To add to article edit

Shouldn't this article mention the notable fact that Congressman Matt Gaetz is married to Ginger Luckey, Palmer Luckey's sister? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 04:10, 6 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
