Caste

Why caste based account is provided here? Can we provide a general details about the people living in Palani? Is this a place to show which community is majority over here in Palani? This page has been updated to list the dominant religions in the area - Hinduism, Islam and Christianity. The reason why this article has so much about the Temples and Hindus is becuase of Palani being a famous place for Hindu pilgrims (primarily Tamils) and being mentioned in Hindu scriptures. This is quite common for places which are of religious importance to a specific religion.Uma Manian (talk) 19:40, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

Demographics--> Caste Distribution

In Palani, all most all the castes have streets with their caste name, but I don't understand why the contributer specifically intrested in mentioning about the distribution of Bhramin caste and their living streets, if he/she wants to promote about his community there are other places in the web to do that.

I really don't agree with this Caste Distribution subsection, by providing this what the contributer is trying to achieve- Caste Supremacy?? only one nayakar palayakarar in dindigal is "Gopala Nayaker" of virupachi , because of vanavarayars bought them from telugu country to fight with other clans of his caste ,who were defeted this vanavarayar clan and had sended them pollachi , vanavarayars got back the power with help of vijjayanar king and sended some soilders family with vanavarayar , to done back his revenge , he had defeated his enenmy clan and in virupachi he oppinted over some nayakar family over, native clans where fighted got back to power even under madurai nayak family.

other than cinnamalai these are the largest Pollachi (Puravipalayam) - The Gopanna Mandradiars were Palayakkarars and later became a Zamindari of Pollachi and Puravipalayam during the British rule.

Samuthur - The Vanavarayars of Samathur were Palayakkarars and later became a Zamindari of Samathur and Kottampatti during the British rule.

Uthukuli - The Kalingarayars of Uthukuli where Palayakkarars and later became a Zamindari of Uthukuli and Tirupur during the British rule. [2]

Kangeyam (Palaya Kottai or Palayamkottai) - The Sarkarai Mandradiars of Kangeyam were the traditional chieftains and Palayakkarars of the Kongu Nadu.
