Paduka pluralization?
editLooking for consensus on how "paduka" should be pluralized in standard English. Are they "paduka" or "padukas"? JetJaguar05 (talk) 03:13, 19 June 2020 (UTC)JetJaguar05
- Very good question. The short answer is of course that the word itself is not standard English, but that's dodging the issue. I checked the online OED and it is not listed. The first screen of an internet search provides:
- Paduka Sandals who always pluralise "sandal", and never "paduka".
- Yoga-pedia uses "padukas".
- Dolls of India] uses "paduka".
- The site self.gutenberg.org/articles/Paduka (blacklisted by WP) is Project Gutenberg publishing The World Heritage Encyclopedia which simply copies our article!
- Etsy uses "paduka".
- Wiktionary gives the plural as "padukas", yet the quotation uses "paduka".
- Encyclopedia.com uses "padukas".
- Indiasmart uses "paduka".
- All I can suggest is decide on a form, ensure that it is used consistently in the article and report it here. You get to standardise English! :-) Martin of Sheffield (talk) 09:10, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
