Do not delete edit
I don't have time to review it now, but a number of 19th century international law scholars (possibly early 20th century) dealt with this subject enough to make it notable (once notable, always notable). Though my understanding is it is of historical interest, not current. I've added the International Relations/Law banner as it falls into that area. IMHO (talk) 23:17, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

what is recent examples of pacific blockade?

Gunboat diplomacy edit
Isn't this just another name for/a type of gunboat diplomacy? Both articles even cite the Don Pacifico affair as examples of the concepts they cover. Seems like they could be merged. 108.34.186.243 (talk) 10:06, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
- Many actions have indeed overlapped, but seems to me Gunboat Diplomacy is about a threat, explicit or not, to bombard or even invade, with blockade being incidental or even absent, whilst Pacific Blockade is blocking traffic, pure and simple.
