Another of the same name?

There must have been another railway of the same name, because a sign at the museum in Black Diamond, Washington says it was on a railway of this name 1916–1951. Anyone know anything about that? - Jmabel | Talk 20:57, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes. The standard gauge Pacific Coast Railroad in Washington was formerly the Columbia & Puget Sound R. R. before it was renamed after a change in ownership in 1916. Per the book "The Pacific Coast Company - Ships and Narrow Gauge Rails" (pg 135) by Gerald M. Best.

The 3ft narrow gauge Pacific Coast Railway in California ran from Port Harford (now named Port San Luis) to Los Olivos, California. Also per the book "The Pacific Coast Company - Ships and Narrow Gauge Rails" by Gerald M. Best. Additional information on this railway can be found in the book "The Pacific Coast Railway - Central California's Premier Narrow Gauge" by Kenneth E. Westcott and Curtiss H. Johnson.

To confuse the issue further, the same company that owned the Pacific Coast Railroad and the Pacific Coast Railway also owned the "Pacific Coast S. S. CO. R. R." in San Diego, California. It was a very short railroad serving the wharves. Again per the book "The Pacific Coast Company - Ships and Narrow Gauge Rails" by Gerald M. Best.

There was also a North Pacific Coast Railroad north of San Francisco, but it was not related to the other railroads mentioned above in any way.
