"Friedrich Pabst, Oberbaurat, killed by the Polish Home Army, Dec. 13, 1943 in Warsaw."

Friedrich Pabst (d. December 13, 1943 in Warsaw) - German engineer and architect, from whose name derives the name of the project of reconstruction of Warsaw - the so-called 'Pabst's plan'.

Biography

Pabst came from Dortmund [1]. He graduated at the Higher Technical School in Gdańsk (German: Technische Hochschule Danzig) [1]. In early 1940 he worked in the City Planning Office in Poznań, then in February 1941 he was transferred to the office in Łódź (then Litzmanstadt) [1]. In April 1942, Probst was the fourth head [2] of Office Building in Warsaw [1]. Pabst was killed during the assassination attempt on Hitler's billeting officer Emil Braun December 13, 1943 in Warsaw.

Pabst's name graces a redevelopment project in Warsaw - the so-called 'Pabst's plan', although Pabst had not worked on the plan [3].

Details of the Plan

The plan called "New German city of Warsaw" (German: Die Neue Deutsche Stadt Warschau) had reduced the country's capital city with the provincial cities of 100-130 thousand [4], consisting of the German section of approximately 6 square miles on the left side of the river and 1 km square for the 30 000 or 80 000 Polish slave lying on the right. The number of residents of Warsaw had been reduced by approximately 90% relative to the status of the prewar period. Anticipated in the minutes. Translation of Polenstadt

in History/Pre-War planning, the term "Polenstadt" is translated as Polish city. While I am not a native German speaker, I believe the fact that the same caption uses "Deutsche Stadt" is a notable difference that is currently lost in translation. I think 'Pole city' would more accurately translate the clear racism in the original caption as written by the Nazis.
