Should unsigned players be included in roster? edit

Minnesota owns the signing rights of their draft picks but, until otherwise announced, no drafted players have actually signed with the team. It feels a bit premature to include drafted but unsigned players in the roster section. I thought it might be best to raise the concern here rather than remove them without discussion. This topic has also been raised on the talk page of the Montreal PWHL team and the talk page of the New York PWHL team. Spitzmauskc (talk) 23:35, 18 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

I understand where you’re coming from, and what you’re saying. I could go either way, honestly. I was using NYPWHL as a reference when making my updates, because it was the most-recently updated. Players are going to get added and removed at some point — whether that’s now, or once all their signings have been completed in November/December. —MikeVitale 00:29, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
No. It's common practice that the only players listed on a roster are those signed by the team ... and some of those players, for whatever reason, might never sign. Players to whom teams hold the rights but are unsigned are left off. Beyond that -- and this is a general caution for PWHL articles -- we're not in a race, and no one gets a prize for being the first editor to "scoop" the others. There's no rush in waiting for official confirmation. Ravenswing 12:52, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
