What is P ? edit

What is P ? 122.177.209.42 (talk) 03:06, 2011-01-26 (UTC)

"PMOS transistor" means "p-channel MOS transistor". Circuit dreamer (talk, contribs, email) 12:32, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
P type Silicon is used. NMOS uses N type Silicon.Zen-in (talk) 15:20, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Should be totally re-written, relevant info missing, irrelevant given edit

The definition is clearly off-topic. Both PMOS and NMOS contain BOTH p-doped AND n-doped regions, so the definition as given would apply to NMOS as well! It is not clear whether PMOS stands for p-n-p or n-p-n geometry. Defining which is which would be the main reason to have this article. (I do not think the topic deserves a separate article anyway but not flagging for now).

The article should only focus on what is specific to P-MOS. Statements like "PMOS transistors have four modes of operation: cut-off (or subthreshold), triode, saturation (sometimes called active), and velocity saturation" seem to refer to a general property of MOS transistors; if so they are irrelevant and should be removed or put in context. 12.104.156.31 (talk) 17:20, 15 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Logic levels edit

For reference Intel 4004 PMOS voltage levels.

VSS +15-5% +15+5% V
VIL VDD VSS−5.5 V
VIH VSS−1.5 VSS+0.3 V
VOL VSS−12 VSS−6.5 V
VOH VSS−0.5 VSS V
