Originator edit

The claim of the originator of the phrase seems bogus... the linked reference is the front page of a company site that hasn't been updated since 2005 (but claims to be under construction). I'm going to remove the claim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.106.124.201 (talk) 13:43, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

PEBKAC is notable edit

Well, I think it is a useful article because I searched for PEBKAC on google and found this and it showed me what I wanted to know.

The term PEBKAC was used as a question on Jeopardy.[1] If it reasonable to assume that a contestant might know the answer than I think that the term is notable and that people would be interested to find out what it means. M stone 17:25, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
It does warrant coverage, but whether it warrants coverage here rather than at the list of internet slang or on the Wiktionary still seems worthy of some consideration. There's nothing (including a strong assertion of note) in this article right now except for dictionary definitions and mention of a single non-notable ad campaign. Restored merge template pending response. MrZaiustalk 17:47, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am glad you agree that the term warrants coverage. I think that merging the term into internet slang is highly problematic. The term is not simply "internet slang" but is also "computer jargon" is currently also listed under List of computer term etymologies and List of computer-related jargon. Merging also will remove all the references associated with the page which cannot be reasonably be merged into the larger article. Better to have a centralized page with a well referenced explanation of the term that can be linked to from these various lists. M stone 18:50, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
It may not be, however, if all we can say about it is its definition and that of similar terms. If no case for notability can be made, the term(s) might be better suited for the wiktionary than here. MrZaiustalk 18:56, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well I think that if it is not clear cut than it would be better to keep and have both here and Wiktionary. I think that the page does offer something slightly more than a simple definition. Although I would agree that it is only slightly more. Since the potential harm caused by deletion or merger is greater I would argue to leave the page in place for now. No merge. The proposed article is not appropriate for a merge. It would be ok to merge this into, for example, a List such as the ones mentioned above, but Internet slang is not a list of words, it is a separate subject. Since this has been discussed and there is no consensus for merge, I am removing the tag. Feel free to suggest a different article for merging if you still have concerns about notability.
